It would seem to me that, from an organizational standpoint, there are few expectations at all this year.
The expectation is still to win hockey games, there's a lot more pressure to win games during a rebuild.

This would be a great argument if Canada had won the WJC recently, but it's hard to establish a winning attitude in a two week tournament that has ended up as a loss for Canada the last several years.

Good our center depth is bad enough with him the first priority should be keeping the flames relatively competitive plus playing against a bunch of juniors isn't the best for his development at this point.

Whoosh...

Will the Flames let Monahan goto the Olympics though? I hope not. He needs the rest.
Dude is implying that Monahan is good enough to make TC this year in the Olympics.

To me, he's saying the Flames should lend him to the Juniors. Because IF he was good enough to go to the Olympics, he should be sent for sure.

At least we can watch our potential 1st round pick/s for the upcoming draft.

No Brent,

You won't ruin another flames player with your archaic coaching style!

Would've been cool to see Sean there, but can't argue with the decision.

It would have been nice to find out if Sean wanted to go or continue playing with the Flames. I guess we'll never know.
No doubt he'll make some kind of canned statement to the effect of, "Would've been nice but main commitment is to the Flames blah blah blah".

When Canada doesn't send its best, it's hard to expect them to do well.
