No. They've done them in Vegas before too. You just need a good refrig system. (as pointed out already, arenas are fairly warm). I don't know when they're planning the games but California in winter isn't all that warm anyway.

Do you ask the same question when you go to the Saddledome?

We have outdoor rinks in California every winter. The ice is crap but they stay frozen. Raising the ice surface at Dodger Stadium by two feet likely means there is one hell of a refrigeration system planned so the ice is decent. Both of these teams are used to playing on bad ice at home.

I don't see this anywhere else but... according to icethetics...:
the Islanders released their uniforms they'll wear in their stadium series. It's like the Islanders want to be hated.
Just hideous.

I'm with you on this one. Looks like a European team jersey. Too much going on, and the colours just don't jive. Yikes.

Not with that logo. I can see possibly the striping but I can't see them using the stadium series logo.

I like the Kings jersey quite a bit, I also think the Isles jersey is pretty darn slick but think that Duck's jersey is horrid looking, way worse then our new 3rd and frankly I wasn't sure that was possible.

I don't like the pants but I think the sweater is pretty cool. I like the logo a lot.

Here's an update from James Mirtle in regards to the set up in the stadium:

Kings one is slick. Agreed that it would've been a lot better with the Gretzky era or even modern era logo, but as a whole, I likes it. Ducks one isn't bad, a lot less boring than their normal ones. Their normal sets are a candidate for biggest snoozers in the league.
EDIT: Isles one is nice too

Is Getzlaf wearing a jacket underneath his jersey?

I love the NY jersey, that is nice. The kings isn't too bad but the ducks jersey is terrible. They should have used the throw back to the mighty ducks, way better.
