At this stage, just send Baertschi to the AHL. Let him develop down there. There's no harm in it.

I think it will be a close game. I'll say 3-2 Kings. Baertschi better not be sitting. That's ridiculous.

I like how people seem to blame everyone but Sven. He's had a really bad year, has made some crucial mistakes and continues to try to be too fancy.
The only person killing Sven is himself.

Asked what he expects from the five-foot-seven, 153-pound forward, Hartley said: “Energy, energy. When you’re a small player . . . whatever your size is on paper, especially to play in this conference, you need to play a bigger size on the ice. I think Paul Byron can bring this to our hockey club. He’s been very good in Abbotsford, so he deserves it.”
If Byron goes into the lineup, it’s likely that Sven Baertschi comes out. The Swiss forward and defenceman Chris Breen skated this morning long after everyone had left the ice — a telltale sign that they’ve been excused from the night’s action.

If anyone earned a seat in last night's game, it was Butler, not Baertschi

Hard to believe Hartley could be the worse coach the Flames have ever had, but he's really pushing it now.

All of Stajan, Cammalleri, and Stempniak were terrible last game, but let's sit Baertschi again.

Come on man, let it go. He wasn't very good and he's the rookie.
Baertschi is more important to this team than any of those guys, but he needs to sit when he's making dumb mistakes. Cammy isn't going to "learn" anything at this point, Baertschi might.
Hartley won't last much after this season, so let Sven ride out a hard coach and hopefully start to flourish by the end of this year or the start of next. If Hartley is doing any damage to Sven by benching him every few games, then honestly, Sven isn't worth keeping. But I'm sure that isn't the case.
Just, don't freak out every time it happens. We get it. Hartley bad. Sven good.

He's being replaced by Paul Byron, who has no future in the NHL, and has never shown glimpses of promise any time he's been called up.
If Byron wasn't Feaster's player, he wouldn't even have an NHL contract.
Nobody puts on a Flames game to see Paul Byron.
Baertschi played no worse than any other Flame yesterday, yet he sits. The team was completely dominated, and he takes the blame.
Hartley has no clue how to coach a rebuild. His solution for everything is to bench players.

Trust me, I'm no fan of Hartley's, but Baertschi has to show that he deserves to stay up with the big club and play every game.
Everyone makes mistakes, but over his past few games, Sven has made some pretty glaring errors in all three zones and doesn't seem to be learning from them.
He is making himself an easy target to be benched.

Unfortunately Hartley doesn't really have the luxury of sitting one of current top 4 defensemen. And I'm pretty sure Breen and Smith haven't showed they are better options than Butler. Horrible mistake to be sure but Hartley can't be benching a guy like Butler when Giordano and Wideman are injured. Nobody can say with a straight face that Butler isn't one of our top 6 defensemen right this moment.
Hopefully we get healthy by the trade deadline and have a youngster on D step up and then perhaps we can see Feaster deal Butler at the trade deadline. I'm sure most of the board would be ecstatic about that. Butler certainly isn't a guy we should be building around and I'd be shocked if Burke didn't want to see some more size/strength added to our defense.
Brodie
Giordano
Wideman
Russell (assuming we try and succeed in re-signing him which I think is likely)
Smid
Those are our key guys at the moment moving forward to next year. The rest haven't proven to be the solution IMO. I think all of O'Brien, Butler and Smith are available. Unfortunately I don't know if we can deal a Butler until we get a Sieloff or Breen stepping up and proving they can be an NHLer. Not convinced we'll get that this year. We've got enough puck movers there. A clear lack of size and physical play. Butler and Smith don't really bring anything we lack. Sieloff or Breen potentially could.

Sven is a big part of our teams future those 3 aren't they will be gone in the next couple of years or perhaps even this year .we need to develop sven properly and not spoon feed him minutes he isnt deserving he has to learn how to play consistently and he hasn't done that yet

Breen had to sit. Very bad game from him
Sven didn't create very much on offense last game. Hopefully Byron can add a spark with his speed

Because. He's. The. ROOKIE.
Sit the rookie, let him learn from his mistakes and improve. It's simple really.
No one is pinning the blame on Baertschi.
