You are right it doesn't seem like Larry Taylor had a good season. He started well then his play went south late in the season. Some I cannot blame him but in some plays, you can see that he lost some quickness. Also, CFL lost some good returner due to injuries or other reason. Chad Owens went down, Chris Williams did not play in the CFL this season. Montreal returners struggled, Wpg Will Ford did not pkay until halfway of the season. In the West, Tim Brown of BC struggled while Stefan Logan came in late in the season. In Edmonton, they were doing some musical chairs on returners, in Saskatchewan their returners were inconsistent.
He might not see Larry Taylor start with the Stamps next season.

Kirk Penton is reporting that Rich Stubler will be named Winnipeg's new DC for Mike O'Shea.
Mark Nelson is rumored to be heading to Ottawa as the DC, other guys with close ties to Rick Campbell include Mike Gibson (OC) and Kris Sweet (OL).
So much for the Doug Berry rumors in Edmonton, now its rumored Toronto's staff will take another blow as Steve McAdoo will double down as the OC/OL coach for Chris Jones.

Tom Higgens has always seemed like a great guy. I hope it works out for him.

I don't understand why BC would let Stubler go. They were one of, if not the best defence in the league.

Stubler will be replaced, likely by the end of the week, by defensive backs coach Mark Washington, and the Lions hope to install Paul LaPolice next week as a successor to Chapdelaine should LaPolice elect to leave his job as a TSN analyst.

Though four teams are still looking for an offensive co-ordinator, Benevides said he will conduct in-person interviews this week and next, a likely sign he’s comfortable getting LaPolice if the former Winnipeg head coach dumps his telestrator.
“Paul’s got a career decision to make,” said Benevides. “He’s a highly qualified guy. So are other people. But I don’t think it’ll be too far from what I wanted originally.”

Good move by Winnipeg if this is true. O'Shea needs some veteran coaches to assist him. As for Mike Gibson, i am not sure he will follow Campbell in Ottawa. Why move to an expansion team when he's got a secure job and have a good head coach to learn from in Calgary. Kris Sweet might follow him.
Karma for Toronto for stealing Chris Jones from Calgary. Now, they are started losing their staff.. Jones, O'Shea and now McAdoo?

Stamps need a DC and OLC now...interesting
I think they will have to grab someone from outside the org now. Still surprised we haven't seen any player trades if there is a freeze starting tomorrow.

I've heard from someone I trust that the OC and DC isn't the only thing that has changed in BC, Roy Shivers has been demoted and Neil McEvoy elevated in personnel. I guess it isn't that shocking as the talent just hasn't been there. .
Calgary could lose another coach to Rick Campbell, Don Yanowsky could be named his DC or his LB coach (the same position he currently holds in Calgary).

Is there a reason why all these Stampeder coaches may be jumping ship and leaving a stable group in Calgary to jump into the unknown in Ottawa? A new challenge, higher pay?
I guess a promotion would do it. I'm just wondering why a coach would switch in a lateral move

Leaving a team that peaked and huge uncertainty at qb, that can't win big games.

I don't understand that either. It's gotta be more money. I wouldn't be surprised that some FA defensive players will jump ship as well. I hope Bennett stays in Calgary.

I am guessing the fact that there is no expectations for that Ottawa team for a couple years, that means those guys don't have any stress as far as it comes to job security for a while.
Plus they get additional experience working for a new head coach, which pads their resume for when they want to move up.
For the Stamps, anything less then the stellar record thay had this year, and there could be changes, there may not be a spot open somewhere else, and, their stock wouldn't be so high.
Getting in on the ground floor somewhere this season, even if a seemingly lateral move right now, has a higher upside down the road for lower tier guys such as assistants.

Peaked as in being the best team in the regular season? Uncertainty at QB? We have 3 solid QB's under contract.
Sure, it sucks we have not won the Grey Cup since 2008, but to think that's why two coaches went elsewhere is hilarious.

On Mark Stephen's mock protected list, I would replace Brandon Smith and probably put Fred Bennett instead or even Cordarro Law. If Bennett or Law is not protected, Ottawa will grab them especially with Rick Campbell familiar with both players. Actually Brandon Smith did not have a good last half of the season. QB picked on him so many times and he got beat also.
Non-import, not sure if Ottawa will be interested in Rob Cote but if we lose him, we will probably lose a good player. I hope Campbell pick Eric Fraser though. We might also lose punter Rob Maver. Freaking Rick Campbell will steal as many Stamps players as he can via expansion draft or free agency.

Glen Johnson assumes role of VP of Officiating
Quote:
The Canadian Football League (CFL) is pleased to announce the appointment of former Head Referee Glen Johnson as its’ new Vice President, Officiating.
“While Glen’s talents as an on-field official will be sorely missed, we are absolutely thrilled he has agreed to take on this tremendously important role within the league office,” said Mark Cohon, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League.
“His officiating experience, expertise, pedigree, professionalism and passion for our game are truly second to none. His leadership abilities have been proven throughout his career, in the boardroom as well as on the football field. And he is perfectly qualified to direct and develop our strong team of CFL officials.”
“It has been an honour to officiate alongside trusted colleagues who are dedicated and passionate about our great game, its integrity and their important role within it,” Johnson said.
“I welcome this opportunity to work with them in a new way at a time that the CFL is entering an exciting modern era marked by new stadiums, expansion and business growth.”
