I wouldn't mind if Sven could put up the numbers Heatley did in a few of his years.

Heatley isn't going to become a roleplayer. He's going to play in the Swiss league and get fat. The only thing he could teach Sven is how he used to get his shot off quickly. But he'd have to tell him, not show him, because he can't do it anymore.

I get the hate for Heatley but he'll end up on some team in the NHL next year, and again i wouldn't be surprised if it was the Flames. He's a shell of his former self and he needs to sign a bridge contract so to speak to try and prove he can still play. I see a mid tier team either giving him a smaller contract or him signing with a team like the Flames to prove he can still play, and if he doesn't then no big deal.
As for our current Flames, I could see a lot of teams interested in Cammy and a few teams wanting depth for the playoffs interested in both Stajan and Stempniak. In all honesty though, I'd listen to offers for almost anyone on the team. Remember, teams get dumb around the deadline and may over pay for some players or just make a deal for the sake of making a deal. We'd better cash in this year. We don't have the same high end tallent to shop like Iggy and JayBow but if we're smart we could probably still cash in

If Hartley is still the coach here next year, I could see the Flames signing Heatley.

Trying not to read too much into it. But how often does all three of the big wigs hit the road with the team? Feaster, Burke and Weisbrod all there to take in the game tonight.
Unless it's just because its the teams first foray into Winnipeg.

Add to that the apparent flip-flop on Baertschi sitting out and it makes you wonder

The flames are facing 7 losses in a row here and are double digits out of the playoffs. They could very well be ready to make some moves to try and get the team out of this funk and move forward with the rebuild

The Flames need to trade for Joey Crabb and put him on a line with Davey Jones and Cammalleri.

We can't lose all of these guys, we need to at least have some contracts to maintain the cap floor.

Highly doubt the Canucks make that move.
They will very likely just buyout Booth this summer and keep Horvat.

Cammy for Horvat doesn't make any sense for the Canucks. Maybe if the Canucks were one piece away from being serious Cup contenders, and even then it probably wouldn't happen.

Draft Pick

Maybe not but with the Canucks falling out of a playoff spot and a bunch of guys locked up to long term contracts who can't score, the pressure is really on in that city...

I agree with what you are saying, but looking at it from Van's perspective, there is reason to consider it (or a deal like it).
The Sedins are 33 - does it make sense to wait out this year and try and fix it next year? Keeping in mind that they have scored 1 goal in 4 of their last 6 games - it's not like they're far away, they just need to score more goals.
Yes Cammalleri is a rental, but that can be a good thing - try it out and if it works, you extend him. If not, you get the cap space back in the summer and you've lost nothing.
Yes, they can buy out Booth in the summer. But that just delays the situation and buyouts are not appealing. If they can move the contract now, that is one season earlier (and again the Sedins are 33) that they can use that cap space.
No way they move Horvat, but I can see them being willing to go after Cammy. Stanton is 24 and playing well, and Tanev is 23 - so would they be willing to move Corrado?
Would both teams do: Cammalleri (hold salary) for Booth, Corrado + 1st?
If Cammalleri, with salary withheld, is worth a 1st + a secondary prospect, then taking booth should bump the prospect at least to Corrado.
And if you look at it this way, you have to ask yourself would you rather give up Horvat or Corrado and a 1st? (I think the Nucks would do the package before they gave up Horvat)

I would much rather have Corrado + 1st then Horvat.
