It sounds allot like you are defending him. I'm sure if the person inside the costume was a family member you would have a different opinion on it.

This is assault plain and simple, and this moron should face all the legal ramifications.

Doesn't look like much controversy, pretty cut and dried case of assault.

There are worse jobs than being a tooth mascot...for example Senhor Testiculo

Slamming him to the ice would definitely hurt...

Looks like it will be a long winter.. I didn't see any shadow... but on a serious note.. they should bring back the "Stocks" from Medieval days for incidents like this...

I just walked around handing out flyers and posing for a few pictures. This was pre-cameraphones.

and that picture of Senior Tesiculo looks like a girl in that costume. Very skinny legs and the boots!

Not defending the guy but things do happen in a drunken stupor.

I never smoked crack but I did smash Benny the Jet's (Jets old mascot) head of the glass quite a few times at a Jets/Flames game years ago. Flames were losing....I was gassed...He had a fireman's outfit on and tried shoving a hose from an extinguisher up my nose.

Thought it was pretty funny until some kid a few seats down started crying because Benny was getting beat up.

Sometimes mascots take it to far with drunken idiots

Anybody remember the Calgary Flames having a cross ice mascot game during the intermission? Would have been in the early 90's. They played in the neutral zone with blue bumpers on either blue line to keep the puck in.

They had 10 different mascots out there, all on skates, all with sticks, playing an actual 5 on 5 game of shinny. It was pretty interesting because not all the costumes were well suited to hockey.

For example, Mr Sub (from Subway) couldn't put both his arms in front of him because his trunk was so thick. So he just had the stick out to one side. Couldn't really skate either, since the costume went below the knees.

Mr Green Drop however, was basically just a guy in a green leotard, and had full mobility. Also, he appeared to have played a bit of minor league hockey prior to his gig as a animated representative for a lawncare company. So when that puck wound up in Mr Sub's skates, and Greendrop went charging in, he had some pretty good velocity at impact.

Long story short - Greendrop came away with the puck, and Mr. Sub went spinning off to the side. That Sub didn't move again until they carted him off to get the zam out there. Coincidence I never saw another mascot half ice game?

I'll never forget seeing the Mr Sub laying face up at center ice... not moving, but with that big stupid Subway grin plastered across his face.
