As long as you aren't showing up the other team I don't see why any goal celebrations should be banned. Players are human and have emotions and to me this is micromanagement.

I never even really noticed the high five thing, you need to give fans time to celebrate anyway. If they just hugged and went straight to the face off what would Chicago do with half of their goal song?

Just sounds like a bunch of veterans who hypocritically did it themselves being grumpy.

Too bad its going to continue driving most of you crazy as this news probably won't affect you much unless you watch a lot of St Louis Blues hockey....

I'm glad someone is stopping this stuff. Now if they would top the jump into the glass. It's all junior hockey crap. With the benches on the same side of the ice (didn't like that change either) I think it probably leads to a lot of unnecessary trash talk after a goal. Play the game like a professional. I don't know about you, but I don't run down the row of offices high fiving everyone every time I complete a task expected of me. Celebrations, except in big instances, have gotten out of control.

Only because they kept having pile ups in front of the bench, as we all know the slightest nudge causes a domino effect on the Canucks.

I think all goals should be celebrated like this:

Too much?

Real question is, why are the BLUES doing it. I mean who do they think they are all of a sudden? Hopefully every game now opposing team high-fives the crap out of each other after a goal just to annoy them

"They felt like the going through the line thing was a high school, college type of play." - How insecure of them!

Flames better have a laugh about it and forget it.

So should I also stop riding the bull around the green whenever I sink a putt? That's just no fun!

But yet fun to gripe about!

I don't care much about the high five-ing, but with every team doing it then it looks like a chore.

And to add to the insignificant gripes, I don't really like the stick raising at center ice after a win. Someone told me it's in part to salute the fans, but then why don't they salute us after a loss too?

Or is that their subtle way of blaming us for the losses?!

If we're talking about minor rituals that annoy us, mine is the goalies scuffing up the crease at the beginning of each period and the shootout. Stop that #### before bench fly-bys after goals IMO.

I don't really understand why some people have a problem with it. The team scores a goal, the players are excited and want to celebrate. That's like saying it's lame for fans to jump up and cheer when their team scores a goal. I think the high fiving just adds to the celebration atmosphere. It actually seems pretty lame of the Blues to restrict their players from doing it. It'll just make it less exciting after a goal is scored with players just skating back to the bench and waiting for the puck to drop.

You're also not doing your job in front of 20,000 people who paid to sit there and watch you complete your tasks. I'm also guessing that you complete a dozen or so tasks per day, where as an NHL player can score as much as a few times per game, to not scoring at all.

I'm not a big fan of over the top things like sweeping the ice or the bow and arrow thing or whatever. I dont mind the odd jump into the glass if its a big goal and if your momentum is taking you there anyways. But giving your teammates a high five after the team scores, which literally takes up zero extra time, seems almost necessary to me.
