With Morrow, Hutchinson, McGown, Drabek, Happ can the Jays afford to have another guy coming in with injury questions? Coupled with questions about if they can get anything from Romero and you run the risk of having a lot of questions going into the season with the starting rotation if you bring Johnson back. I guess having him is one more arm to help mitigate the possible issues with other guys but it just seems like the Jays have a lot of questions already that they may not need another in Johnson as well.

No. That's why he wasn't given a QO

Eventually the Jays have to get lucky and have a season where their top 4 Pitchers dont have major injuries...dont they?

So Jays needs...

1: One or two starting Pitchers (Only healthy ones please, got enough fragile guys as is)
2: Starting Catcher (Non-tender Arencibia... awful player and a bad attitude)
3: 2nd Baseman
4: 4th Outfielder (By preference one who can hit well against lefties)

1 & 3 will be tall orders, 2 & 4 shouldn't be that hard to find (Seriously Arencibia was so bad that literally any major league quality catcher will be an improvement).
What makes you think Arencibia has a bad attitude? Not arguing but I haven't seen anything like that from him - he is what he is on the field but seems like a good community guy?

I'd really like to know what the Jays plan on doing with McGowan. I'd like to see him try to become a starter again and see what happens. I hate seeing that type of talent just sitting in the bullpen.

I think he is referring to his constant whining about being mistreated by the media.

In JPA world legit criticism = maltreatment. His response to anyone saying he has any flaw is to throw a fit and pretend that the things he does poorly don't matter and demand that people overvalue the few things he does decently.

He's a below average fielder, has no patience at the plate, no two strike approach, and his swing is long. He's an out-machine.

An opposing pitchers dream in every way...gives runs on defense, gives outs on offence.

Looking over the free agent lists I think I'd like the jays to target Jimenez, D. Navarro, Ellis, and Rajai Davis (although I think he wants an everyday job).

Rumblings that there are catchers available - who many people wouldn't think of. Miguel montero? Devin Mesoroco? Yasmani Grandal? Will be interesting to hear some of these names start floating to surface.

Montero would be interesting depending on cost, pass on Mesoroco, as for Grandal... former top prospect who had a major injury last year and was suspended for PED use and linked to Biogenisis seems a little overly risky right now I'd take him but I'd need him to be sufficiantly cheap (and pass his medicals).

I keep on focusing in on Ubaldo Jimenez... he's somewhat Jekyll and Hyde in terms of performance but he's always been a durable inning eater with a good K rate and he'll cost less then Santana, Tanaka, and Nolesco. I'd offer him a 3/39 with a team (or vesting) option on a fourth year.

DeRosa had so much fun this season with Toronto that he retired. I don't see any official releases on it, just saw it on the Blue Jays Facebook feed.

The Philadelphia Phillies are "deep in serious talks" for Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista, per an unconfirmed report from Howard Eskin of Fox 29 TV and 94 WIP Radio in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia would reportedly give up Domonic Brown in the deal. The Phillies would also add more to the trade than just Brown, who posted an .818 OPS and slugged 27 home runs in his first full major league season. Over parts of three other seasons, Brown hit 12 home runs and had a .703 OPS.

I haven't been following other teams closely to know whether Domonic Brown has a higher ceiling than what he has shown; however, being a Flames fan and knowing Iginla was held on to longer than he ought to have been, perhaps moving Joey Bats now is a good idea.

pull the trigger on it, Bautista's value is still decent and the clubhouse needs a change.

Attitude definitely needs to change. If we can get several quality pieces for him all the better. If we can get anything for JPA that'd be great.

According to DJF, there's talk his family wanted him at home, plus, his salary was peanuts...but on top of all that, he may have a chance to join the Cubs broadcast team, and those jobs don't come up very often.

Interesting to see how Lawrie takes that, DLR was a pretty big mentor this year.

Bautista better get a pretty big return, sure, yes, every year he has like the last drops his value, but he's still a big bat. Sure, the room needs a change but all the Domincan's were pretty tight in that room, so not sure this is the offseason to unload him and make that big change. He plays half decent next year and his value will be as good as it is today.

Multiple teams interested in J.P. Arencibia

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that multiple teams have expressed interest in trading for Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia.

This news comes as a bit of a surprise, as Arencibia is coming off a terrible year in which he batted .194 with a .592 OPS. However, teams are apparently interested in his power. The 27-year-old is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. With a trade a legitimate possibility, the Blue Jays are currently monitoring the free agent market for a replacement at catcher.
