I grabbed one too, but I wasn't given a ship date and the status is still pending... :-(
Patience... no one in Canada has had theirs ship yet according to the survey. I ordered mine 3 minutes into sale and the order is still pending.
If you are interested to see the results of the shipping survey, it looks like US, Germans and Australians have been the only ones with processed orders so far. From a N5 shipping survey someone sent me. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11cS...aif8E/viewform
EDIT: Shipped!, scheduled for Thursday delivery.... Sweeeeet
Initial comparative camera shots taken from almost all of the flagships phones on the market right now, including the Sony Xperia Z1, Nokia Lumia 1020, Nexus 4/5, and iPhone 5s, are out.
Looking at the pictures, seems like the Lumia is the clear winner. Nexus 5 camera is probably second. iPhone camera doesn't seem like it can keep up and I'm surprised how bad the Nexus 4 camera was. Zoom in on the detail on the sign and on the Lumia and N5 you can still tell the specific orientation of the screws holding the sign up, the detail is lost on all other phones.
Bit the bullet and bought a black 32GB. In 4-5 weeks it should be in my sweaty little hands. lol I think people who have bought them to resell aren't going to be able to make much if any on these. There seems to be lots of stock available especially if you don't mind waiting for a bit.
In those comparision pics I'd give the edge to the iPhone 5s over the Nexus 5 for 2nd place, it's close but slight edge. Though if you factor in the fact it's a $400 phone vs an 800 dollar phone it's no contest. The Nokia wins hands down though.
Still haven't bit the bullet and ordered one, hard to justify it right now since I shockingly haven't cracked my Nexus 4 yet.
They don't have the LG G2 in those camera tests, which has a better camera over the Nexus 5 (pretty much the same internals other then that). I know the few test shots I've done with it have looked amazing
My 3 yr contract with fido ends in nov. (at the end of this month), I was looking to switch over to wind and nab their usual $30 christmas promo. Do I buy phone, and then attempt to sign up, or is better to go to wind and try and get it with my plan?
The new Nexus 5 isn’t just packed with new software and performance features, it has some cutting-edge radio enhancements as well. The device not only supports CDMA, GSM/HSPA, 9 LTE bands and the new Wi-Fi stand 802.11ac in the same chassis, it also uses Qualcomm’s new envelope tracking technology, which could make the Nexus 5 a much more battery friendly and power-efficient phone.

I'm really curious to see how the new battery works out. One thing I can't stand about my nexus 4 is I'm always very paranoid to charge when I can because I'm always draining it so damn fast.

This is why I decided on the G2, for the bigger battery. Will be interesting to see though with the new tech in the Nexus 5 if it can make up for the smaller battery
I was very impressed with the G2 when I played with it at Costco. I'll wait and see how the Nexus looks and feels and battery compares before I make a call though.
Feel like the fact that the Note 3 was the first to use the QFE1100/Envelope Tracking technology was missed in the hubbub. Only expecting above average battery life compared the middling Nexus 4's span, but considering the processing power, screen resolution and size? Still a massive step forward.
Why? Because I am currently using an LG G2, and I want the Nexus 5. But I am obligated to use the LG G2 for the next 3 to 4 months. It's a work-perk, so I kind of have to. I'm not complaining.
I've seen a few "I can't decide between the G2 and Nexus 5" comments. What I have outlined below is a direct comparison of each phone.
I've only outlined what I feel are the basic and most important features that should be compared, if you're looking to make a choice. I realize processing time, speed, etc will come into play, for some people. Until we get some YouTube videos doing those comparisons, this is all we have for now. This information should be sufficient if you're looking to make a choice now.
Remember: The Nexus 5 is PURE Android. No extra bloat-ware, like the LG. Ie: LG's own software layered on top of the Android system.
Personally, I like the G2. But I also loved my Nexus 4. I'm very jealous of my wife, because she's using my Nexus 4 now. I don't find LG's software "interfering" with what I do (FB, Twitter, 6 email address, Chrome, TapaTalk, etc).
Excellent review, thanks for posting this. As a previous iPhone user, I'm very much looking forward to a change of pace with an OS like that. So versatile.
