You're too late. Principe used them all with his atrocious and embarrassing opening monologue to last night's game.

To answer that, ask yourself this: What kind of player would Hall be if he had been drafted by Chicago/LA/Boston/SJ? What role would be play? How many minutes?

I can't see them allowing the junior toe drag into the opposition twelve tones a game

Assuming they get another high pick again next draft (probably top 3 again), I don't think it matters much. By the time that player is effective, their other top picks are going to start becoming free agents.

They are already saturated with top picks and pretty soon the cap and free agency is going to be a limiting factor.

This is a silly thing to worry about. The Flames should only be concerned about their own destiny, outside of whatever any other NHL team does. Flames management will build a successful team regardless of where they happen to select in the draft, if they're diligent and successful in their scouting. I could care less what the Oilers do.

The Oilers have picked 7th, 1st, 1st, 1st, 10th, 22nd and 6th-15th-21st in the last 7 years. Why would picking in the top 5 next year suddenly pose a problem?

In the last 7 drafts, they have had 16 picks in the top 50, including 9 in the 1st round and 3 more at 31/32

Acquiring draft picks has not been their problem. Turning those picks into a team has been their problem.

I guess I should rephrase that. More annoyed then worried.

Agreed. Plus it is ridiculous to want to be worse than your biggest rival. It is the complete opposite of what sport stands for.

I wouldn't want to be worse on purpose. You obviously have to let the chips fall and see where they land. Typically the Flames and Oilers have been on opposite ends of the spectrum for quite some time, so very rarely do we see the teams picking close to each other. In 2008 the Oilers picked 3 ahead of Calgary, so players being selected are similarly ranked (They got Eberle and we got Neimz).

Knowing how much they wanted Monahan and seeing him go to Calgary I would imagine irks some oiler fans. I would hate it if the roles were reversed.
