That's brutal. Looking like the Ramo the Lightning saw way back when. Not sure why this guy can't translate his game to the NhL.

Bryzgalov is still looking for an NHL gig. Should the Flames consider him on a short-term (one year) deal?

Or do the Flames call-up Reto Berra, who has been pretty solid in Abbottsford?
Ha! And I get called a troll for suggesting the Flames get rid of Brodie in the Game Thread!

I thought Ramo played great yesterday.

There is a difference between suggesting one of our brightest spots on defence should be shipped out because he had a rough game, and suggesting we should bring in a goalie because our two backups at not playing great as starters.

Only one is trolling, you know what's up.

...why would we go after Bryz?

There are growing pains in a rebuild. Giving Ramo and Berra opportunities to play is as important as giving Monahan or Baertschi a shot.

I believe Berra and Ramo will both be given a fair shot at proving they belong before they'll even consider going outside the organization.

OP: No. Teams that are closer built to a playoff spot will take Bryz if they feel the need. We have a three horse race for the starters job in year one of a rebuild. And Berra hasn't even been called up yet. But I feel they will only call him up once and will only be when they feel he can stay the rest of the season.

Ramo needs more starts to get a feel for it. It's early yet but riding MacDonland does nothing in the "let's see what we have" department. They know perfectly well what they have in MacDonald and should only be relied on for minimal starts. not the bulk of them like we've seen in the first bit of the season here.

Ramo wasn't reason we lost last night. The problem was the defense, stupid penalties, and giveaways.

Hell, even Kipper in his prime would have looked bad last night.

Give Ramo a chance people, he's only played 2 games and both against scoring machines where we made a lot of mistakes. He'll get better once we tighten up defensively and we stop making dumb mistakes.

It's too bad the OP is being jumped on. Ramo and MacDonald aren't playing super terrible, and I like the potential of Ramo... but Bryz has the potential to come in and give us a Vezina trophy kind of season. He had 1 bad year in the goaltending black hole that is Philly. Whats the harm in signing him to a short deal?

Bryz only looked like a top goalie because of Tippet and Carlyle's rigid systems. He was completely exposed in Philly and would struggle here with this young team

I'm as big a Bryz fan as anyone, but I just don't think a Vezina performance is going to matter to a defensively suspect team like we have. It would be almost a waste to bring him in this year, despite the cap space, because even if Ramo is average our win/loss record is going to probably remain close to the same.

That's just my two-cents. I'd like having Bryz, but I just don't see the point.

Spend the year giving Ramo, Berra, Ortio, ect to show what they have. If management does not feel that any of them will be starting goalie material going forward then looking into Bryz is not a bad idea. Granted i would hope for a better option than Bryz, but not sure what would be available next summer.

Just repeating what's been said but no.
A young top 4 defenseman? That's a different question.

We should get bryz. Because we saw what above average goaltending got us over the past few seasons....

Jay, get er done.

I'd rather Burke fleece another team for goaltending and a stud defenceman.

No to Bryz.

This is a rebuild; if we are unhappy with the goaltending, call someone up.

We are also not interested in any post-apex players; Bryz defo post-apex.
