I have to admit that while I was glad to see the Flames sign Hudler, I thought they overpaid. Not anymore. The guy shows creativity out there that this team hasn't seen since the days of Huselius, only in this case Hudler is being given linemates who can actually keep up. His passing plays rival Tanguays, and he is playing with far more of a physical edge than I expected. And every time he touches the puck I get that gif with him crashing through the wall on a sea-doo playing in my head and it makes me laugh out loud....my wife is starting to question my sanity.
I like Jiri Hudler!

For sure they overpaid - that is the definition of a FA. You don't have to give up any assets to acquire them, as a result, their salary is inflated.
However, here we are a year later and $4m is looking like a bargain.
If the salary cap jumps into the $75m range next year, he'll be looking downright cheap.
Great signing.

I was initially worried about his size, but he does not play like a small man. He's very fiesty. He plays strong along the boards and shoves himself in front of the net.
The guys attitude is incredible. Always consistently driving to the net, no matter the circumstances. You'd almost expect him to have to cool off at some point. He's right at the top of the scoring race, with fewer games played than most.

Hudler has to be considered for NHL Player of the month for October along with Ovechkin and Crosby.
This is the first time in his career where he has been playing more than 16/17 minutes. He really deserves is making use of the extra 5 minutes.
Last year his ice time (and importance on the team) was definitely secondary to Tanguay, Iginla and Cammalleri. This year with these 3 guys gone the opportunity was there for Hudler to step up and he is taking advantage.
will he keep it up when as Cammalleri and Stajan are back to share the veteran leadership role?
The same thing is happening on defense where Gio, Wideman and Brodie are playing a lot better than last year (and expected) when they were "sheltered" by Bouwmeester.

This guy deserves some serious props. He is elevating his game to be a legit 1st line forward. His vision and IQ are top notch and he can play both wings.
Great signing and a great vet to have during the rebuild

Hes like a bulldog on a pork chop with the puck to. He had 2 guys on him multiple times and won the board battles. I hope Sven is taking some notes.

Hudler's smart and tough to shove off the puck for a smaller guy. Good leadership too. Someone I want for the rebuild.

You can tell he watched Datsyuk for quite some time. The way he protects the puck with his little frame is impressive.

I seriously questioned why we signed another small left winger but I'm being won over. No, I have been won over, he's good.

Tied for 17th in league scoring. To this point, at least, his output has been "top line" worthy. It's really great to see. He's an assist machine, but I think he could score a lot more if he tried to put the puck on net more himself.
But it's nice to have a top 30 guy on our team. I think Cammy would be close too if he played the whole season.
Liked the signing from day 1. I tell ya though, a lot weren't too fond of it at the time.

I'm surprised I could post it through the tears. The cruising in and taking a ball like he belonged there did me in.
