Yes the only Red jerseys and there were plenty of them last night that didn't stand after Flames goals did have a C on their jersey but it is not a C on fire.
I will say this much most of the Montreal fans i have encountered at the Dome over the years have just been fun loving decent hockey fans that like to knock back 3 or 4 beers but they are not like the antagonistic breed that shows up when Vancouver comes to town.

I was at the home opener this year and I'll honestly say it's the most fun I've had at a Flames game since Game 4 Vs. the Hawks during our last playoff appearance. Since that playoff game, I found it hard to get excited at Flames games...it was a hard team to cheer for.
But on Sunday I was jumping up for every goal and I didn't regain my voice until Tuesday morning. It was a heck of a good time.

I'm sure it would never happen, but I think it would be pretty cool in the new building to put in 2 pits with bench seats behind each goal that you could cram a couple hundred post secondary students into. Sell the tickets for $10 only to University and college students. It would pick up the atmosphere, make Calgary a tougher team to play against, show some good will to the community, and maybe most important, getting the young people (who will one day be a key demo for season tickets) in the habit of going to hockey games.

Man, was that ever cool. I can't remember the last time I saw that happen.

That was great. It really felt like I was back in 2004. The team was giving such a great effort and the fans appreciated it. The last bunch of years my friends and I would just use the games as an excuse to chat and make jokes and we were happy that this team is giving us a reason to cheer again.

This is calgary puck, and one thing we never ever do around here is jump to conclusions based on small sample sizes.
We use solid data and methodical techniques and we never let emotion factor into stating our conclusions.

Why does every single person on here jump to broad, over-reaching generalisations?

It gets tiresome listening to people whine about how other people cheer at a hockey game. As long as people aren't being rude or obnoxious who cares if they stand up after a goal or not.
|
There is an issue though as the behaviour of the majority dictates the acceptable behaviour of the people on the margins. For example at a stamps game you cant stand up when the stamps are on defense you afe expected to sit down during the play, at a flames game you are expected to sit during the play. In seattle when the team is on defense you are expected to stand if you sit in the hawks nest and for the whole fourth quarter in tight games. European soccer some sections stand the whole time. Whether standing and cheering loudly during the play is acceptable is defined by the behaviour of those around you.
So I perfer when people around me are engaged.

Based on responses here (and from my observations at the Dome) it seems like the majority are engaged outside of maybe the lower bowl sections.
I think it is silly to tell people how they should behave at a game that they (or someone they know) paid a decent amount of money to go to.

I would perfer in a one goal game for the last 10 minutes of the 3rd you could stand up so we arent there yet but I do agree that telling others how to cheer is stupid.

Fair enough.
I would hate that as it is tough to see over people and bad enough when they lean forward in their seats blocking the view.

Noticed this year the fans are a bit louder at the Stamps games, actually. I always thought Calgary had a pretty quiet crowd at their games, so I was really surprised this year.

I'm in the lower bowl, between the blue and red, and most people around us stand up when a goal is scored. Many of us also high five each other in our immediate vicinity.

I was at the home opener and was being tapped on the back to sit by a 'Nucks fan as I was pumping up our section when that standing O occurred. Apparently it was on TV. Moral of the story: Always stand because 'Nucks fans die a little inside when you do.

I hate how quiet the dome has been or can get. The Library was the perfect nickname. I always stand up and high 5 everyone around me when we score. I cheer as loud as I can. It's fun.

Disagree. I went to at least a dozen Coiler games and the fans stand when they score. Calgary is corporate white collar fan base. Edmonton is mulletville blue collar so they embrace their mediocre team.

There is for sure a more stupid Rider-fan like quality to the Oilers and their fans then Calgary and Flames fans. There is just more going on in Calgary and in Edmonton the Oilers define that city.
Sad in a way honestly.

People of Calgary Puck, I didn't make this statement based off of one game, although it seems like that from my OP. I guess I did just jump to conclusions to the fact that whenever they show the crowd right after a goal, it's always the most expensive seats in which involve people who have more money and less interest in the game.
