I drive a Tundra, but it is a first-gen (2005).
I love it. I'd want to keep it forever, except it appears that it doesn't have room for a rear-facing baby seat (it is an access cab), which it appears I am going to need in 6 months or so...
I'm thinking of moving into a newer Tacoma Double Cab.

They hired a 3rd party to test all their models and the guy tore into ford for all sorts of reasons. Went as far as saying he would never have bought a Ford of pre 2006 but is singing a completely different tune of them now!

Well, I do really like both of the Titans I have had. I would buy another one but if buying new today, I would buy a ford. Titan is due for a re-do so who knows what they come out with next?
Having said that, 2 years newer 26,000 less kilometers and warranty still remaining I think the Titan is the better deal. Correct me if I am wrong but the 2007 ford does not have the full titty electronics does it? If that is the case they are pretty close from an interior perspective.
I would ensure you get a full inspection on both first, obviously, and make sure the differential on the Nissan is checked and has been serviced.

You probably know more about Titans than I do, but is $25K that good of a deal on a used truck with 86,000 kms? I would think you could grab one new for $30K at the right time of year, granted not an LE.
Also, last month you could pick up an extended cab 4x4 F-150 XLT with sync, tow package, etc. for $30,000. That's what I paid in September 2012. The Titan deal Ruddstud found doesn't seem like much of a bargain to me.

I was not really commenting on the price as much as comparing the trucks. The price might be good or not but that is not really my area of expertise and I have not done the research.

i believe you can get a 07-09 chevy silverado 1500, with less than 100,000kms on it for less that $20,000. They are the best trucks in my opinion and is probably what i will buy next. Have not had much experience with F-150 but a couple of buddies of mine drive em and seem to like em

One of the reasons I went new when I bought my truck. Used prices on trucks seem insane in this city. Like guys are pricing on what they have left owing, not what the used truck is actually worth.

I've noticed this too. Initially I thought it was just on Tacomas (which is what I'm looking at), but when I switched over to other makes, they are almost as high.
I will likely end up buying new.

Exactly why I bought an end of year 2012 as the 2013s were all rolling out. The cost of new vs. used here just didn't make sense.

Get the Ford. Awesome trucks: reliable, powerful, and as fuel efficient as you can expect a full-sized pickup to be. I have a 2010 F-150 with the 4-door cab and a 6.5' bed, and I love it. Mine has the Triton 5.4L engine and it's a lot better on gas than I expected it to be, and the new Ecoboosts are phenomenal.
3 of my friends have Dodge Rams, and IMO there is no comparison. The Rams are nice trucks but the fit & finish just isn't to the same level as the F-150, and I don't think the ride quality is as good either. There's a big difference in interior space between the Fords and the Dodges too...their trucks are also 4-doors but have way less room than mine.
I've only driven a Titan once, and it wasn't mine so I can't comment on how they are over the long term, but comparing it with my F-150 I would take the Ford ten times out of ten.

I did some further research and MstsRoboto was correct in saying there is issues with older model titans with rear axles and rear diffs. The 04-07 models do have issues but the newer ones seem to be clear of these issues so far.
I agree with buying new. Sometimes it is easier. Both of my Nissan's have full 7 year/160k warranty bumper to bumper. I know Toyota offers 7 yr/200k warranty. I am not sure if Chev/Ford/Dodge are offering extended warranties to that extent yet.
The newer Ford's have come along way. Their Management has made huge strides in quality. GM and Dodge are still far behind in that sense. The Titan is due for a re-design and that is the biggest complaint amongst consumers right now. Technology has changed a lot in 10 years but the Titan hasn't. Still a great truck though.
Newer models Fords or Titans are both good vehicles.

Yeah, I leased an '08 Tacoma from '08 - '12 through my company, bought it out of the lease at the end of the term, then sold it and made $8K. Trucks hold their value like crazy.

A few interesting things from this thread.
I didn't notice anyone ever ask how much Rudstud was towing.
Second, we never got an update as to what he went with?

2014 GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado,
redesigned for this year and it's an amazing truck. "F-series" trucks are the best selling if you include all of them (F150, F250.....F650)
Sierra and Silverado (same truck) figures combined outsell the F150 and their new V8 gets better mileage that Fords ecoboost.
The new Ram diesel coming out looks interesting, import trucks aren't even in the same game though.

I had a 2011 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn that I liked so much that I traded it in on a 2013 model. I feel it has the most luxurious interior on the market. I put on about 50,000 km a year. So having a truck that is comfortable as well nice to drive is very important to me.
The milage isn't the best, but that isn't too important to me. I have found no matter what type of truck I drive. The milage always sucks and is never as good as the manufacturer claims or what some other people with similiar trucks seem to claim. I think there are a pile of people out there confusing L/100km with miles per gallon.

Chevy really stepped up their game with their new models though...

Owned a tacoma for 2 year, interior was behind the times.
GMC is getting there but IMO the interiors and fit in finish isnt in the same league as Ford and Ram. My dad is a die hard GMC guy and bought a new one in September.
I own a 2013 Ram Longhorn with the hemi and 8 speed and love it.
I drive a F150 FX4 regularly at work love it as well.
I decided on the Ram because the price was better for the same options and the interior "felt" more comfortable to me.
When it comes to mileage dont drink the koolaid. Your buying a truck, if saving $60-$80 a year on gas over another brand is important then trucks are not for you
Gas Mileage in my experience:
The work truck is a 2013 F-150 with the V6 eco. It gets 14L in town and jumps to 24L when towing my trailer (yep im that guy who will take the work truck on a vacation)
My Ram gets 16L in town with 34" tires an gets 19L when towing my trailer.
The F-150 really shines on the highway however and I have seen it drop as low as 12L when the Ram at best will get 15L.
My Dad has a 2014 Silverado LTZ (i think that's it) and gets around 16L and drives slow.....everywhere.

If it means anything, in Iceland the 4x4 mad nation the ecoboost is a huge hit here and the f150's are in high demand.
They are ridiculously expensive here though.
