Feminism is all well and good, but I keep waiting for the moment when they want to change the word "woman" to just "wo" , so they can remove the man from it.
Whoa! Man!
Woman!!!!

Actually its a sample size of two, my wife and myself whom would both vote to keep it the same if it ever came to that...unless of course you are saying that women shouldn't be allowed to vote which is ironic as that is one of the major factors overcome already in this whole equal rights thing...

I just assumed you were male, my bad.

I don't really have a problem with changing it either, but I do think the 'demand' for it is highly exaggerated. I asked every female I could about this when I heard about it years ago and not a single lady said she had a problem with the anthem as it was now.
I've noticed with a lot of newer 'feminist issues' a lot of females who aren't championing the cause, find the issues fringe, or silly, or much ado about nothing.
The big ones are still violence against women, and wage disparity. And yeah, we need to work on those. (And of course there is a lot MORE work to be done in 2nd and 3rd world countries, but I'll ignore that for now) But after that, I know a lot of women who think other issues like language and oh shoot, I can't think of any off the top of my head, but the other issues don't matter and actually make the cause look stupid.

Well, if it must be changed, the original language was gender neutral and perfectly fine. I assume it was transformed to be more modern. If this group feels threatened singing the current lyrics they should just sing their own...
These people can stick it, as far as I'm concerned.
Ironically, your post comes across as somewhat offended and sensitive.
Personally, I'm not really bothered either way. I'd be in favour of the anthem being gender neutral and having no religious references. But I also understand that it is a snapshot of a particular time and doesn't need to be taken literally.
Bigger fish to fry? Of course. But it is also interesting to see how much energy people will spend on resisting small changes, as if such an amendment would somehow diminish the meaning of the anthem.
I'm all for modernising our national anthem. I don't believe in any god, so why should I have to sit through "God keep our land, glorious and free?".
Who cares? It isnt exactly infringing upon you, and if, in 100,000 years the anthem is still the same and we've disproven the possible existence of deities of any kind we can look back and know where we've come from.
Its like saying; Your last name is Johnson, but you're not actually the son of anyone named John. You should change it.

Why should you "so help me god" on the bible in court?!
The whole premise is that nobody owns these lands and the one sovereign - "The Queen" is steward until the "genderless" deity returns. Whether you believe in god, or don't is imaterial to the rules and law of the land formed centuries ago.

I like how Jimmy put it above you. You don't need to believe in it literally, you just understand it's a snapshot of a particular time in our history.
I'm all about separation of church and state and get pretty angry when you see religion infiltrating political decisions for society especially at the expense of science or common sense. But when it comes to old symbols like statues or art or phraseology I don't really have a problem with it. It's part of history. As long as it's not affecting the present or future, what's the big deal? It's nice to remember our roots, and there is a lot of amazing art or literature that came from religious beliefs.

Change your groups name, you are not trying to restore our anthem, you are trying to change it. Don't hide behind a misrepresentation of your agenda by using this name. If you are going to make a stand for something you truly believe in then call yourselves what you are. To many politicians in your group, trying to use typical smoke and mirror tactics.
I'm all for equal this, equal that...but what about PRESERVING tradition, and they way things are. These people aren't "restoring", they're changing the anthem to the way they'd like it.
Love this comment too:
Seriously? Restore our anthem?
I am a woman, I do not feel left out of things when I proudly sing "In all thy sons command".
What about "My home and native land".
What's that about? Does that mean everyone who is NOT native or aboriginal to Canada is not included?
My parents were born in Scotland and emigrated over a decade before I was born - am I native? Because they were not born here, does that make them less Canadian? They became Canadian citizens around the time I was born and never once did they cry that the national anthem did not include them.
You need to give us all a break. Don't waste a minute more of anyone's time or a nickel of anyone's tax dollars because some thin-skinned individuals take exception to "sons". You need to get your priorities in line.
Equality is not just something you reach for. Equality is understanding that history has a place and a bunch of women crying about "In all thy sons command" is just going to be perceived as a bunch of crying women. This kind of behaviour feeds the myth that we (women) are NOT equal and we are all slaves to our feelings.
