all would be core players except for Maybe Morrow.

The 25 and under core is Pietroanglo 23, Shattenkirk 24, and Berglund 25 and Stewart 25..

Oshie and Sobotka are 26.

This is their time. If they are in 8th place come end of January there will be huge pressure to fix what ails them. They no longer have Davidson controlling things and they panicked last year already in a similar spot giving up their 1st and 2nd for Bouw and Leopold.

Maybe they could fix things with a scoring winger to replace Andy MacDonald.... a very similar player to Cammalleri.

In 2009 Bouwmeester was 26, Phanuef 24, Gio 25 Regehr 29, Jokinen 30, Bourque 27, Glencross 26,

Iginla was only 32.
Agree they have very similar lineups and "core" players at the same point in time. I would give the Blues the slight advantage in up and comers though.

They have some other less proven young players on the roster, that still have the potential to join the core.

Tarasenko: 21
Schwartz: 21
Paajarvi: 22
Cole:24

Agree with you for the most part though, and think that their window is overstated by some analysts. They really need to try and take that next step this season or next because the talent coming up the pipeline is drying up and they haven't had a good first round pick the last three seasons (two years they had no first rounder, the other year they reached on Schmaltz).

Other than them playing for St.L and being great young players the Flames had Boyd 23, Dawes 24, Backlund 20, Prust 25, Pardy 25 and Brent Sutter 22 who were all on the verge of breaking through and becoming solid NHLers....

At the time the young Flames had accomplished about as much as the St.L young guns and just needed the chance.
