step 1) drug the kid up on ibruprofen and tylenol 30 minutes before dropping them off. They will then be perky for the drop off 'cause they are kids who refuse to realize they are sick and should take it easy.

step 2) get out quick and make sure you screen your cell phone calls during the day.

Seriously it's a tough one. I'm lucky enough that I can use a remote desktop and still do the same work at home with a sick child beside me as I can at work. As I had to do on Monday.

Funny thing about this is that there are websites I found while researching that give you all the ideas on how to drop your kid off when he is sick.

When we decided to have a child my mother in-law was going to retire from teaching and move to be near us and play a big part and would have happily watched him when he was sick. Unfortuneately a couple months after we were pregnant she found out she had cancer and passed away 1 month after he was born, just enough time to see him once. Lesson learned always have back up plans

I don't think the daycare ever called or thought the kid was sick when I did this. I wouldn't do it with other symptoms or something contagious.

This method works, provided the daycare didn't already invoke the 24 hour banishment. Then you can't feign ignorance.

I'll admit though, for work, it is better for credibility purposes to receive an urgent phone call telling you to pick up your kid from daycare or school, than explaining to work that you can't come in at all because your child is sickish.

My daycare doesn't have that many kids in it, so I don't feel that bad.
