I've totally miscalculated how much cap was available by teams to offer individual players, I thought it would have been diluted a lot more than it was

The Blues struck out in round one with lowball offers and wanted to make sure we got the guys we wanted this round. We may have overpaid but didn't pay full grid on anyone and got four forwards that can play all 3 positions as well as Cullen who can even play D in a pinch. That kind of versatility was worth it to me.
