Sure but the chances that those "tools" translate to the NHL are very small. Plenty of guys on the list have tools that Ferland doesn't have.

Not really sure how you can say he has had a better pro career then Ferland (who has played a total of 10 games). Nemisz pro career has been pretty dreadful. Ferland's hasn't even started yet.
He has had a better Pro career because when given the chance to play at the AHL level he showed he was more than capable of playing a full season. Ferland showed that he wasn't ready at all for the AHL and maybe not even the ECHL.

I am fine giving Nemisz one more chance at the AHL level. But this is his last chance as a Flame and I am very doubtful he has NHL upside.
Its very doubtful that anyone on the list at this point has NHL upside.

No, most of the prospects on the list would have to have a dreadful season to be where Nemisz is.
It is doubtful that most of the guys on this list ever play a game in the NHL, so Nemiesz is already ahead of that and probably a majority of guys never play a full season in the AHL as well so again Nemiesz is ahead of that as well.

I have no problem if people don't want to choose Nemiesz but lets not act as though he has done nothing so far with a bunch of future NHLers left on the list.

Its down to a lot of nothing at this point so seems a little silly to be too critical of any choice based on the fact that likely none of them make it in any significant role.

What is better, the lottery ticket that cost you six but won you two dollars or the one that is for the draw next Friday?

The second ticket may never win you two dollars, but you were never trying to win two dollars. That ticket might be a long shot, but at least it has a shot.

As for being critical, if there isn't any reason to discuss the prospects that are left then there isn't any reason to keep the poll going. It's a hockey discussion board on the remaining prospects.

Comparing Nemisz to Ferland (for example) is kinda the point.

I think people should certainly criticize the reasons for picking one guy or not I was commenting on some posts (may or may not have been made by you) over the past few round that simply say can't believe people are voting for guy X.

There are plenty of critiques to be made about everyone's reasons for choosing guys, including my criticisms of Ferland, just don't like the blanket why choose guy X when all the guys are likely to do nothing at the NHL level so no real right wrong guys.

I don't really see the lottery analogy working but for me I take the guy I see playing in the NHL in the future even if it is in a limited role over a guy I see never playing and struggling to have a AHL career even as long as Nemiesz already has.

Took a trip down memory lane to read some comments regarding Nemisz from our prospect ranking 2 years ago, and came across this gem of a post from moon:

Post #41 above, regarding Ferland, as well as this gem of a line - "very doubtful that anyone on the list at this point has NHL upside".

Also interesting to see how low Bouma's stock was a couple of years ago. He has certainly outperformed those expectations.
