Difficult question.
Politics I guess. But it's a very complicated relationships.
I used to be obsessed with music, but that industry pretty much put on on involuntary rehab. Which I guess just goes to show that politics goes first.
Roleplaying I would call more an addiction than an obsession.

I just got back into Lego this year, but I've gone a little nuts buying sets (Star Wars mostly). Thankfully my mom saved my old bricks so I've got those too. It makes me wish I had kids so I could share the hobby.

I was living in an older neighbourhood where there were a lot of retired folks of the same ilk. It was like living in a community of retired "Hank Hill"s. I on the other hand mowed my lawn when there were plenty of yellow dandelion heads sticking up and tried to get them before they went to seed. When I wasn't working, I was involved with 101 other things. They were obviously not too pleased with the state of my yard. I was, like, "if you ENJOY gardening/landscaping.... feel free".
I will say that taking care of yard will absolutely *NEVER* be one of my obsessions.

I also REALLY enjoy cleaning cars, often spending an entire afternoon detailing autos for friends/family. Put a little music on, take your time, and get meticulous.
The bonus....cars always run better when they're clean!

If I could, I'd eliminate most lawns in Florida anyway. So many other states have accepted native plant landscaping as the better alternative due to water and other environmental concerns. I love plants, but not the idea of "controlling" nature. So I really don't enjoy the suburban gardening
mentality. Sodding over everything is just not the best thing in Florida.
My really nice next-door neighbors have the greenest most perfect lawn imaginable. When we had water restrictions, they still watered every day. The lawn is treated chemically on a steady basis. They planted fruit trees within the lawn, and happily give the fruit to me. But the crap they use on the lawn is not food-grade, so I don't eat it.
Do you guys have ficus hedges up there ? They are used all over the place here, although the ficus really wants to be a tree. They attract whiteflies, so every few months they have to be sprayed. A few years ago, ficus was almost banned but there's so much money in them for the nurseries that the ban never went through.
I guess that's another obsession of mine. The cocoplum is a gorgeous , native trouble-free hedge. But I guess ficus reminds people more of "up North" . What's interesting is that any fruit tree near a whitefly-treated ficus is pretty much poisoned, and the fruit becomes risky to eat. But here we are, still using them hahahaha.

That was one of mine as well. Except to get to the next level I had either annoy my Facebook friend or pay money. I was not willing to do either, so end game.

Skiing. I'll fire up the ski movies around August - September, and watch them until the hills open. And have been known to fly halfway around the world to start the season early or end it late.

“In our family, there was no clear line between religion and fly fishing. We lived at the junction of great trout rivers in western Montana, and our father was a Presbyterian minister and a fly fisherman who tied his own flies and taught others. He told us about Christ's disciples being fishermen, and we were left to assume, as my brother and I did, that all first-class fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fishermen and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman.”

What constitutes an obsession? I have so many varied interests that I can't find enough time to tend to them all. I wish I was one of those few people that seem to like doing only one thing and perfecting it, but I'd have to stop doing so many other fun things...

Wanting to see the Calgary Flames lift the cup sometime in my lifetime. I somewhat remember 89 but was pretty young and I didn't have the same appreciation as those games I watched in 04.
My taxes, I am obsessed with doing them by hand. I get excited when its time to do taxes and I comb over every detail to ensure I am getting the most out of the process.
Waving my hand in front of every single sliding door like a Jedi. I do it every single time no matter who is watching.
Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Ive watched every episode at least twice and in many cases 6 or 7 times at least.
Non Fiction books. I used to read a bit of everything but now over the past 5-6 years all I really have now is non fiction, reference books, text books, encyclopedias, history books which spins off into another obsession with organized crime. Studied the topic for decades just because I find it interesting and can never get enough.
Photography, 6 years as a self taught photographer Ive covered everything from the highly technical to the creative process and different styles to the business of photography and back again. Probably one of the few obsessions I have where I regularly see tangible results and growth.
Star Wars, have stepped away from this one over the past 5-10 years. Pretty much knew everything there is to know about Star Wars found myself getting bored with it and now appreciate it from more of a distance.
