By the way just because I voted for Hanowski doesn't mean I don't have a good grasp of our prospects and their talents. I'm aware of every player posted in this thread and their good and bad points.
Anybody can get a cup of coffee in the NHL after deadline when all the vets were traded away. Especially a guy who was just traded for the face of the franchise. A GM has to make his decisions look good. I have neve rseen a player so out of place in an NHL game. He was a full step behind everyone, he was panicky with the puck, and didn't use his big frame very well. The fact that I saw Hanowski in an NHL game helped me see how poor he actually is.

You may not like Hanowski but I think by playing for the Flames, he has at least proven he is AHL quality. Most of the other players to consider are too far away from even that for me to vote for. After the draft each player has to show some progress and each step of the way the herd gets thinner. Who actually progresses of our recent late rounders to even make it as an AHLer is a gamble. There are only a few who have proven to be even of AHL quality, such as Nemisz who'll get my next vote. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush for me unless they show exceptional quality. None of those left on the list have shown this.

The guy was drafted in the 6-round and has a couple of high school seasons under his belt. All we have seen with him were a couple of inter squad matches in a development camp.

I am not saying he won't be an NHL player. But he hasn't proven anything yet. I would need to see more before I considered him a better prospect then guys like Culkin, Kulak, Hanowski, Ferland, etc.

A little off topic, but my prediction is this time next year, Billins will be one of the more highly thought of D prospects in the organization.

He had a great rookie pro year last season. If he can repeat that, I think we could view him as a top 20 prospect on the Flames.
