went with jankowski (same reason i had voted for him at #3 and #4).
though, i would have Seiloff as a close runner up to be in the top 5 prospect list.
i don't know where i'd put klimchuk or knight, just know next to nothing about either.

Voted Janko but it's not a slam dunk. Wotherspoon, Sieloff are right there.

Jankowski for me as well. I think Wootherspoon and Siefloff go next and then it opens up.

I voted Poirier. His youtube videos impress me more than the other youtube videos.

After the draft last year, Sieloff was the guy I thought had the best chance of being a long-term impact player. Gillies passed him after his play last season, but Sieloff is my pick for this spot.

That is the crazy thing right now, there are a lot of options.
Jankowski, Wotherspoon, Sieloff, Poirier, Klimchuk, or Knight, could all be ranked number 5 and it wouldn't be shocking.
Plus you have guys like Granlund (2 PPG at WJCs), Agostino (PPG NCAA), Ramage (WJC Captain), Arnold (PPG NCAA). who may be less heralded but are still legitimate NHL prospects.
Would really be interested to see how the Flames staff ranks our prospects.

I don't have a problem with anyone's system. Potential or likelihood, or ... if you're like me you use both but with your own weighting between the two.
I'm likely in the 70% ceiling / 30% likelihood but there just isn't a rule that has any more validity than any other.

I went Janko, Seiloff, Wortherspoon.
Going more on ceiling then on probability. And I love the swing for the fences type pick that Janko was.

I'm much more excited about Sieloff/Wotherspoon at this point than I am Janko.

When i look at it based on draft position and development since being drafted, I put Wotherspoon, Poirier, and Klimchuk ahead of Janko, with Sieloff and Janko pretty much even.
For example when comparing Janko to Poirier:
Janko was 21st overall in a fairly weak 2012 draft whereas Poirier was 22nd overall in a much stronger and deeper 2013 draft. Advantage - Poirier.
Janko's development has been par for the course, not overwhelmingly positive or negative and Poirier just got drafted so no real development since draft to speak off. Advantage - tie.
Overall Poirier > Janko.
I get that Janko's ceiling may be higher but there is also a lower chance he hits that ceiling and a higher chance that he busts.

Really like Jankowski here, but went with instincts and voted Klimchuk (as I did last round). I guess it'll be 3 straight 3nds voting for Klimchuk!

I wish I could have been at the prospects camp to see these guys, my opinions could drastically change. Going by what I've read and watched in highlights, I went this time with Jankowski.
I've been convinced though, my next vote goes to Wotherspoon. I think he's a little more ready than Sieloff and Sieloff's injury worries me some.

Potential is a waste of a vote, in my mind.
I'm voting on who I've seen play, and how impressive they are, right now.
That's why it disappoints me that Jankowski is getting all of these votes. I like the kid, I think he has a shot at being a decent player.
People are voting with their hearts, rather than their heads.
There are better players than Jankowski on that list, and I agree that a guy like Breen is one of them. 3 years from now? Who knows. But I'm not taking this poll in the future, I'm taking it in the here and now.
Horak, Breen, Wotherspoon, Agostino, Knight and Sieloff are all better players at their respective positions than Jankowski is today. To be fair, every one of them deserves a vote before he does.

I wasn't expecting cundari to be in the running here at all but for some reason I liked watching him play last season. He seemed to hold his own, played a gritty style of defense that I believe the flames were sorely lacking. Out of the few prospects I've seen in action, he seemed the most likely to make the team in the role we saw him play last season. I understand that people don't see his potential being as high as some others, but he brings an element we are in serious need of.

Went with Knight. Only due to how I feel about how to rank prospects. The top four aren't really arguable but now it gets down to who is closer to their developmental apex. Jankoski still has a ways to in his but I still value him greatly. Knight though, he'll be here this season and we will see him in key situations with his faceoff prowess and strong two way play.

Couldn't disagree more.
I won't tell anyone that they have to vote on potential only, and if you weight the likelihood more than potential then fill your boots. But the question isn't "who is the better player today?" its "who's the next best Flames prospect on the list?"
I just looked the word up on the net and got this as the first definition; "The possibility or likelihood of some future event occurring"
and that future event in this case is the place these players will be when they finish developing.
I voted Wotherspoon in this round, but Jankowski is a good vote as well, and would have been my choice at 6 or 7 if he wasn't already gone.

This is no different than the kind of lists that TSN or Hockey's future do. If we go by what you are saying, then Horak is #2 well ahead of Monahan who is one of our best prospects.
Granted i voted for Wotherspoon because Janko has a long ways to go.
