Does anyone know if the snake is okay? Is there any possibility at all of the children surviving at this point?

Oh, didn't catch that. So probably just one of those returnees that always signs up and starts posting late when they think the mods aren't around. They usually make it a couple of hours.

Sorry, just read the story. I didn't realize that the poor children had been killed. Terrible story. How does this happen?

Terrible, tragic story. Ongoing investigation for sure.
Not knowing snakes, and assuming both boys were sleeping in the same bed (being a sleepover). Or if the were in a sleeping bag or something, together.
Is it possible for a snake to coil around them both at the same time?

If they were close enough together, absolutely. That snake would be capable of strangling things much larger (and much quicker) than even the 2 boys put together.

You didn't even have to read the story, you could have read just the thread title.

Someone at my work claims to know a girl who had a pet boa or python (forget which) that she let roam around her apartment without an enclosure and even let crawl into her bed with her. When it stopped eating and lost a lot of weight she grew concerned and took it to the vet. The vet asked how big its enclosure is, and when she said it didn't use one he berated her. He said the snake was losing weight because it was sizing her up as prey.
Until I get names I will treat this story as urban legend, but the idea is not inconceivable.

One of my favorite things on the entire internet is when people bring up these mass-passed around urban legend type stories as legitimately hearing it from a friend. Cracks me up every time.

For you 'snake guys', do you look down on 'ferret guy' like the rest of us or is 'ferret guy' a kindred spirit?

Plenty of snakes are non poisonous and don't strangle small children either.
Last year, 19 of the 35 people in the US who died from a dog attack were under the age of 10.

Maybe dog owners are morons too.

You haven't read about the objectively better lake communities in Calgary yet, have you?

Newer article and interview with the store owner.
http://globalnews.ca/news/762560/esc...new-brunswick/
From what the store owner said
- He doesn't understand how such a large snake could fit into the small ventilation hose in the tank
- Snake was in the ceiling and fell through and landed in the room.
- Was the kids of his best friend
Audio is 5 minutes if anyone feels like listening

The snake was destroyed according to the RCMP.

The thing is, no snake can just own a hat like a ferret can
