Just wish that butthole Nonis would come out and say whether or not the are going to use they buyout option or not. Pissing me off checking every 30 min or so.

Checked and they could buyout Kulemin to save $2M but probably not enough savings to get both Franson and Kadri under contract.

I was just reading an advanced stats blog that said that Bozak was the 5th worst regular roster player in the entire NHL for shots against. And he starts most of his shifts in the offensive zone.

While playing some of the toughes minutes in the NHL, Grabovski scored 9 goals with 15-ish mins of icetime per night. Bozak scored 12 goals with 20 mins per night (ie pretty much the same points-per-icetime).

Which basically means that Grabovski scores just as much as Bozak, despite infinitely worse zone starts, line-mates, and match-ups.

Funny. I was just thinking that I've never heard anyone say Bozak was a 200' player

Maybe you should read what i said. I said that Bozak plays a better 200' game than Grabovski. Is he ideal? No.

Granted after watching Iggy, Tanguay, Cammi and Bourque for the last 3 years, almost every player in the NHL has looked better at the 200' game.

As for Liles they are not buying him out.

The Bolland trade was a good move for the Leafs. Although we have no idea what the 2nd and 4th round picks will turn out to be, they gained a solid depth center with a load of playoff experience. If the Flames were on the verge of being a playoff team again and Feaster made that deal (assuming our center depth was lacking) this board would have given him 5 stars.

The Bernier trade is a bit more controversial but I still think the Leafs won that deal as well. Although Bernier hasn`t proven he is a NHL starter, critics can`t deny that he has the skill set that defines starters. He is young and will only get better. Frattin is a good kid who had a solid season, but he is easily replaceable, along with Scrivens and another 2nd they landed a very, very legit shot at a franchise goalie. Pretty good price imo.

The Komisarek thing I agree with, why oh why they did that I do not know, but I also think buying Liles out would be a good move for them. He hasn`t been the same for a few seasons, they have young guys knocking on the door, and they can save some cap that they need to hand over to Kadri after his break out year. Liles will land on his feet somewhere else.

Surely the "48 hour" window has passed now, no?

Yes I believe the window for another buyout has passed. The window opens up 3 days after the team's last player has an arbitration ruling handed down or is signed and stays open for two days.

Fraser was signed July 30th... looks like Howard Berger was wrong.

Grabovski started 36.7% of his shifts in the offensive zone, and finished 43.3% of them in the offensive zone. He pushed play forward in a major way. That is what you expect from a 200' player.

Bozak started 44.8% of his shifts in the offensive zone, and finished 44.5% of them in the offensive zone.

Keep in mind that Grabovski did this against tougher opposition, and with much worse line mates, than Bozak.

This is all just for 2012-13, by the way (because apparently that's all that matters).

Seriously, you could pull this stuff up all day, Grabovski just crushes Bozak.

"crushes Bozak"? Find that hard to believe when nobody wanted him on waivers. Find it hard to believe, when Toronto chose Bozak over Grabovski, yet as you said he "crushes Bozak".

I actually watch Toronto games because i dont hate them like most of CP, and i would have chosen Bozak over Grabovski. Granted i would take either of them over Stajan.

While Grabovski is better than Bozak, but he didn't have an attractive contract.

On each of their respective deals, there's absolutely no chance you'd take Bozak over Stajan. And I think it's remarkable how average Stajan manages to look in every situation.

Put Tyler "27 years old and has never beat 18 goals" Bozak on waivers at $4.2m for the next 5 years, and see how many takers there are.
