They're apparently denying it quite vociferously.

But a donation to food bank will.
So go do that then. Or are you not going to put your money where your mouth is and just bitch about someone else's gesture of kindness?

In such a devastated community, one couldn't possibly have spent $2300 in any better way.

Lol I'm not usually a killjoy but I think these stories are dumb to be honest. If you've got $500 to burn donate it to the Red Cross - it's a super nice gesture but people at Timmy's don't need a free coffee to cheer them up.

A few times is cute and a feel good story. After that, it starts to become tragic. Even the Timmies PR team, after a while, will start to think they'll need to pass it on to a charity lest they start to look bad.

Count me as a cynic right now. Same dollar amounts at the same chain over and over again is a red flag. The fact that its leading off or even a large story in the news is actually very sad. There are tons of real issues going on in the city, province, country and world, and they need to make a big deal of this?

The first one that did it was cute and genuine random act of kindness to strangers. The second and third one turned it into a competition.

Having said that High River residents are in desperate need of some pick me up so I am all for the High River Timmie donation.

I think it's kind of sad that some people think that this is a publicity stunt, or that the money is better spent somewhere else or another organization.

Why can't there just be random acts of kindness anymore? I think it's great.

The post I thanked said:
"the cynic in me wondered if this started as a PR stunt by Tim Horton's"

That's it- we wondered if this was started by Tim Hortons. If they did- it would be a brilliant strategy. There's nothing wrong with having a thought like that.

I still think it's random acts of kindness; I just had the same thought.

I like the random acts of kindness concept. Our world is so idividuaistic. We live in massive cities yet only interact with a few hundred people. Little acts like this re-enforce community and there is a benifit to that.

Why are people attacking Cowperson now? I saw a bunch of stuff last week too.

That being said, I don't think he needs defending because he's probably the type of guy who doesn't give two ####s about what randoms on the internet say.

I guess it has spread to Crowfoot Starbucks.

Yesterday in ‪#‎Calgary‬ a truly awesome customer at our Chapters Crowfoot store surprised customers by paying for $500 worth of coffee. For over 3 hours people enjoyed free coffee and when the last customer received a free cup... That customer gave another $100 to keep the ‪#‎coffeelove‬ going. We are in awe. ‪#‎thankyou‬ ‪#‎payitforward‬

I know its a joke, but why do people always say Starbucks coffee is so expensive? It's not that much more than Timmy's. It's the espressos with whip creme, soy milk, etc there that costs more money.
