It really is Oilers-esque. Remember Conkanen?

Why would Phoenix trade arguably their best player, who they just signed to a long-term contract (with a full NMC)?
There's a better chance I'll be the Flames' starting goalie this year than Smith.

I'm banking on Macdonald starting the first game and then splitting the rest with Ramo. If/When we are out of playoff contention I expect to see Berra given a look with the big club if not sooner if someone gets injured.

Ramo's NHL and AHL numbers are terrible. He has 4 good to great seasons under his belt in the KHL, but how is that going to translate?
I'd pick Other - sign the best Finn goalie in SM-liiga:

The best goalie not playing in the NHL will start the season for the Flames, of course. Whether that is Ramo or Berra is another story since both were labelled that by the powers that be within the organization.

I think Rämö starts.

At the end of the day I don't think it will matter who plays goalie, with the defensive group we have they will all get a chance to get lit up.

Ramo will likely start I just hope his KHL numbers translate into NHL but I doubt it.

Kipper's gone. Time for a youth movement and I have a good feeling about this kid...

I'm still hoping for the Ramo-Berra tandem. If they have a good pre-season then I would love to see MacDonald sent to a contending team that would benefit from a veteran backup goalie. The Kings might view MacDonald as an upgrade on Scrivens. Or the Bruins might be interested in MacDonald over Johnson, who has 0 NHL games under his belt.

Thought the B's had Khudobin? Apparently, he's a big deal.
I am cautiously optimistic about Berra. I think his mix of size, positioning and athleticism could translate very well. He comes out to cut down the angle and if the rebound/pass has him out of position, he can recover. I think he will do better than Ramo, who relies on pure athleticism(like kipper), but seemingly doesnt have quite enough jam. He looks shaky in a lot of clips Ive seen. Who knows....?

i think that Ramo and Macdonald split the goaltending job for this year. Next year i say Macdonald gets traded and its Ramo with Berra as a backup

Watching both of those videos, I think I'm more excited about Berra than Ramo.
He is technically very solid, and his movements are very controlled. Good reflexes too, but we'll have to wait and see how that translates to the speed/shot/skill of NHL players. He is a modern butterly-style goalie, and he's big. I guess we'll see how camp goes.
I like his style better than Ramo's, who looks to me, as far as style is concerned more like Antii Niemi rather than Kipper. Not saying that's a bad thing though...

I also prefer Berra from what Ive seen, hard to tell though until we see them under more pressure here. I think we are fortunate to be starting with goalies like this in a good age range with some experience who have something to prove.
