It seems unlikely that they could have done much during the interview process since it never came up even as a rumour anywhere else it is doubtful that the Erixon camp ever gave any indication of wanting to only go to the Rangers. Plus didn't he state he was excited to be a part of the Flames organization the summer before stating he wanted out?
Seems the blame should go 100% to Erixon camp that thought he was a bigger deal than he was and having a d-bag for a father who thought they had a shot to decide where he went. I guess short term it worked out because they went to the Rangers but long term we have seen how that worked and he likely plays all of last year in the NHL if he sticks with the Flames.
