I don't really disagree with offering a 1 or 2 year deal. While he has been good given his limited experience, he is not 100% proven and his future value is still up in the air.

Does anyone think though, that another team could offersheet him with a long term "Josi" deal? I don't think the players are that far off really.

And would it be worth matching instead of getting a 1st and a 3rd, keeping in mind that it does depend on the status of the team making the offer (i.e., a bad team would be a much better pick).

Even if this story is even true (which I doubt it is, why the hell would Feaster's side leak that??) I don't see a problem with it. Everytime some other GM signs an RFA to a long overpaying contract, fans and media get all riled up about ''how GM's learning nothing, etc''. Well maybe Feaster's camp did learn something about Sutter-style contracts and what other teams go through. Maybe Feaster is actually doing what is best for the club first and foremost. If it is in fact true that Brodie's camp wants more term, good on Feaster for holding back. TJ Brodie has had exactly 1 good season. 2 years is more then enough for him to prove himself and cash in.

Backlund had no problem doing it. I'm liking Feaster's commitment to short term, prove yourself style contracts. Remind me of the good ol' pre-lockout days when teams actually had some kind of control over their RFAs.

I'm 95% sure that BigBrodieFan is T.J. Brodie's mom. And if so, that is awesome.

But seriously, Wildpergus better not pull a BS move and not come back and back up what he claimed.

You going to back up this claim with something? A poster with as questionable character as yourself should not be making such claims about the character of a player without explaining what you're intimating.

Substantiate this. This is the first this forum has heard of it.

There has been tid bits here and there about attitude issues when sent to play in the AHL. Nothing major though.

You'd better hope Brodie doesn't go all Brian Burke on you for this...

Brodie is in the perfect spot and his best interest to sign a 2 or so year deal. Hes basically the Flames #1 young D; will get top 4 minutes and PP time. Tons of chance to prove himself and earn an big long contract in a couple of years.

I think it was Brodie's disapointment on being sent down is where this comes from. He is a competitor, he had flashes of knowing he CAN fit in and do good. I wouldn't want the guy if he didn't have that fire inside~ but he sucked it up like a man, did his tour, and was rewarded and solidified a spot for himself on the big squad. I think he handled himself well despite the disapointment and if people mistake disapointment for an attitude problem, well, they obviously haven't played much competitive sports.

Agree completely. He was upset when he was initially sent down, but obviously worked hard and did that things he needed to do in order to have a permanent spot with the big club.

Baertschi was a similar story when he was sent down. Didn't perform very well, and had some interviews that were pretty downbeat. When he came back though he looked a ton better as well.

Why is Feaster and T.J's agent having such a difficult time getting this done. Brodie is not a star and the contract is not some complicated 7, 8 year mega $$$ deal.
This is annoying that this has not been completed.
What would Feaster do if he had Allstars on the Flames he had to resign.

You're right, this whole situation has gotten out of hand. Fire Feaster and trade Brodie so the madness can end!
