Coburn would be a real nice fit here. Not gonna lie. Would be better than Ference in terms of age and skill. But if the Flames wanted leadership and a great mentor I think you have to go with Ference.

Just another example of Holmgren's chase for worst GM in the NHL.

Just move Coburn for picks/prospects and you also get the LTIR from Pronger's deal when the season starts.
...looks like a pretty good team to me.

5 of their top 9 are centers. Thats just greedy.

Oilers will most likely get Coburn... Holmgren and MacTavish were talking up a storm at the draft.
They were close to getting a deal done then.

I'm not picky, I'd welcome any of 'em... (Not Vinny due to the Nmc I guess)

They are going to have to clean major house if this is true. Heck, they've already leaned major house, but have no compliance buy outs left now.
Never dull being a Flyer fan is it?

Yeah, this is what Feaster predicted would happen when we had the cap room. He forgot to mention that we would be bottom feeders as well so teams have no problem sending us their leftovers to a team that won't come back and bite them.

It's a situation I hope the Flames find themselves in withing 2 years. Asset-rich + money-rich = exciting times.
It's all about complimenting young players with the right veterans. Lecavalier will help that team in a lot of ways.
If they can land Thomas or a similar UFA goalie to help mentor Mason then they should have a good year next season. If Mason can actually become the player he was initially expected to be? Wowza

This is borderline ######ism by Holmgren. They just bought out the same player in Briere, the only differene really is size and it isn't like Vinny uses that well. Meanwhile their D is in shambles, they are in cap hell, and they have no goalie. A truly big WTF move.

Just Holmgren being Holmgren. Hopefully Feaster can take advantage. A Gio for Schenn + bad contract based trade?

That's not really taking advantage of them, depending on which Schenn you meant

Uh...
Lecavalier is 3 years younger than Briere, and a better player.
Briere's cap-hit was 6.5.
Lecavalier's is 4.5
Lecavalier >>>> Briere.
Their D is in shambles? How do you figure?
Timmonen - Meszaros
Streit - Schenn
Grossman - Bourdon
Gervais
They also have a plethora of youth running through their forward ranks. They can now trade Coburn for a decent package of picks/prospects, sign a good UFA goalie and still have cap-room (more notably so when Pronger's deal goes on LTIR).
They're a damn good team on paper for the 2013/2014 season.

CapGeek @capgeek 9m
After the Vincent Lecavalier signing, the #Flyers are currently around $300K over next season's cap, including injured Chris Pronger.
