I totally agree it's a bit overpayment. Schneider is not worth an early first round. He only had one good season so far but I guess NJ thinks they needed to get an established goalie right now with Brodeur leaving. So, it is Schneider for Horvat.

So, how long until Luongo is backing up Lack?

True but it looked like he was giving Lebrun #### about something. TSN said that media had talked to Schneider before Gillis got to.

I thought the Canucks got traderaped myself. They got alot worse next year. Their starter is now a 34/35 year old guy and they are headed downhill fast.

I think Uncle Lou just fleeced another GM. A proven NHL goaltender for a player not proven at the NHL level. I guess time will really tell.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 9s How will Luongo react to this trade? Some believe Luongo made it clear he did not want to come back. Drama to follow?

Forget who said it but Varlamov got a better return than Schneider

Congrats to the Canucks to filling the hole they created themselves by trading Hodgson.

yep, like they said on TSN you always need outs

in an ideal world they move Luongo last summer for a decent return, but at this point Gillis made the best of a weird situation

this improves the Canucks next year and in future

having Eddie Lack and Erikkson in the system makes it easy to trade the younger guy as well

Indeed. It is amusing that Gillis was forced to take less for their goalie of the future than they were demanding for their goalie of the present.

Meanwhile, Luongo is the insecure girlfriend going back to the guy who already dumped her for someone better once.

holy crap are you guys nuts????? Schneider has proven jack all to be making $4mil/year.

Terrible trade by NJ, but then the Canucks even efffed it up more by taking Horvat. A lose-lose situation.

Clearly you are letting your hatred of the canucks cloud your mind.

Horvat is a great pick and Schneider is a #1 goalie.

Good deal for both teams. Luongo is the better goalie and it always made more sense to keep him rather than buy him out or lose him on waivers.

Scneider isn't close to the star goalie that Maguire is trying to make him out to be but he is a starting goalie and can give them decent goaltending for the next 8-10 years.

Gillis was sweating like a pedophile in a playground. I think he got busted in trying to bluff a rookie GM into over paying.

Shocked by the New Jersey were robbed comments.

Schneider is a good, relatively proven goalie who will get better and the Canucks just traded him for a good prospect who has yet to prove a thing.
