Gaudreau, Brodie, Sven and #6 are off limits for me.

I'd have to pass unless they accept table scraps.

There is an element of salary dump here too. Boston needs space. Someone has to go because of chia s generosity last off season.

Technically it was Iginla who scorned Boston.

His no trade clause wouldn't kick in until July 5th.

It would be a mistake for the Bruins to give up on Seguin, a bad year at 21 is not worth walking away from his potential. On the other hand, the last time they traded a young star they got Seguin, Hamilton, and Knight in return...

Seguin >> 6th overall... Please don't be silly... You draft a player at 6 at pray he develops like Seguin has been.

6th + Glencross + small piece

For

Seguin + prospect/pick (3rd round or equivalent)

That's a screaming deal for CGY... Likely need to add a bit more, like taking on a bad contract...I still say Feaster should do it if BOS goes for it

So I think actual price to land seguin or another roster player will be lower.

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. I think a guy like Monahan/Lindholm might be pretty close to what Seguin gives you anyway... not sure why we need to give up half our assets just to make up that gap. Yes, a prospect is still just a prospect, but Seguin hasn't really hit his potential yet either, so he's no sure thing either.

This is a significant overpayment, coming from a poster with a well laid track record for not thinking Calgary has particularly valuable assets.

That seems about right from our perspective. Who knows what Boston is looking for...but I would hope that would get it done.

That's underpayment, not overpayment.

I like Tyler Seguin, but I think some people here are over valuing the guy a bit. You can't just throw all your prospects/picks out the window for one guy. He's not Crosby.
Mah, 21 year old right handed center. If it limited the immediate return for the Flames I think you do it. You're not Mortgaging the future by selling next years first for Seguin. It's worth it IMO.

That package is considerably worse than the one the Av's turned down for 1st overall. I highly doubt Boston would bite for a similar player being acquired.

Why not add in Hanowski or Agostino? Then you've got the Iggy trade that helped get Seguin, so the chain of getting new franchise players for our old franchise players continues.

I would much rather have MacKinnon

I't not about the value, as I think 6+ for Seguin is reasonable, it's the fact that we're poor as hell when it comes to being able to pay the value. If we were deeper in the prospect pool, this might be an option ... but we just don't have enough in place. If there's a way to do it with the two other firsts plus Glencross, you do it for sure.
