Screw the Cherry bashers. The guy is 9.9 times out of 10 right.

And this is just yet another example. So what if he says what's on everyone's mind.

Malkin is a loser. Pens gave him dumb money and he will reward you by underperforming when it counts. That to me is a loser!

LOL, yeah winning the Conn Smythe when you play on the same team as Sidney Frikkin Crosby is under performing when it counts.

Have you ever watched an NHL game?

Cherry has forgotten more about hockey than most of us (including the CBC panel) will ever know. I dread how boring HNIC will be when he leaves. Who is going to be his replacement, Healey?

The hate comes from the fact that he is not "progressive" enough. He's not pc enough. It's politics.

I think if it's any team that fails because they have built a team around one player, it has to be the Flames.

The truth is always in the middle.

I wouldnt call Malkin a 'loser' as hes shown that he has what it takes to win.

That said, I think a team would be taking a serious risk if they were to consider making him their #1 guy. He does have a tendency to switch off.

And I think the contract they gave him was insane.

We have rarely banned people for calling members of the media names. There is a line that can be crossed where it just gets silly - but for the most part of someone is in the public eye they are fair game within reason.

Plus Cherry IS an idiot. So there's that.

Malkin directed something like 21 shots on net during one of the Bruins/Pens games.

Pucks weren't going in but to say the guy wasn't putting on a clinic is just asinine.

Why isn't Cherry ripping on Toews for scoring 4 goals in his last 40 playoff games?

Yep I watched him shoot blanks against the Bruins when it counts the most.

Thanks for supporting my argument.

Maybe he will? Toews still has some playoff games left to play remember? Toews can still right the ship. Malkin can work on his golf game and spending all of that new cash thrown his way to be a loser.

Sure, but it's hardly anything to be outraged over.

It's really petty.

After this years playoffs, I'm wondering if Malkin isn't the franchise player in Pittsburgh.

Loser?

If he played for the Flames he'd be the greatest player in the world.

I would give all of our draft picks this year for him.

Well, you can definitely tell who only ever pays attention to Don when there's a clip or excerpt from when he says something out there, which certainly happens, he's getting on in years and is cut from an older cloth. But if you watch him regularly it's pretty clear he's not the bloodthirsty coot people make him out to be. He's care a great deal about player safety and has championed things like no-touch icing forever, padded or curved stanchions for years before Pacioretty/Chara, and smaller shoulder and elbow pads when they were growing to football proportions (which was addressed a few years ago). Visors are obviously a sticking point but you can't win em all.

The game has changed a lot since his time but it's still played on ice with skates and sticks and a puck, and he certainly knows enough about the Xs and Os to comment with some authority on it. You can call me an idiot too if you want but I still find him entertaining and I'm sure he's very aware of what it takes to remain relevant and popular and even more aware of how the public sees him even as he gets up there in years. I mean, he's still on TV so he's doing something right.

Bottom line if you don't like him don't watch him. I'll take him over Healey, Weekes, and Stock any day.

Then I guess Toews and Kane are losers as well? No offensive player does well against the Bruins. Their team defense is a common denominator.

Malkin is still top 3 in the world and has arguably meant more to the success of the Penguins than Crosby has over the last few years.

Loser is absolutely the wrong adjective for him.

Dude..seriously? If the rest of the Hawks didn't pick up their game they wouldn't be there still. Toews has had a much worse time of it than either Penguins stars.

Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Patrick Kane, Brian Bickell, Duncan Keith, Michael Handzus all have more points than him. Andrew Freakin' Shaw has 5 times as many goals as Toews. Malkin had 16 points in 15 games, despite being shutdown for his last 4 games against a very good defensive Bruin team.

I guess Toews is a loser...but no, in your opinion because his team is still playing he's a better player.

Malkin is anything but a loser. Stanley Cup champion, World Champion. Calder winner, Conn Smythe, Hart Trophy.. I don't even remember the things he has won because there are just too many wins.

Cherry is senile and everyone knows he hates Europeans.

Also why is Crosby not the loser? He was frikkin' awful against Boston, awful turnovers and just did not play good. Malkin was putting a clinic out there, and if it wasn't for Rask, he would have been the hero. But because Crosby is Canadian, he gets a pass? Okey, oh, injured? Really? Really didn't stop him against Senators & Islanders.
