If we only tanked properly in the first place we wouldn't have to give up major assets to move up into the top 3-4.

One loss and we'd be sitting pretty with Barkov.
Haha yeah that game was bad. Stinkin' Howard..

They want a player who can play next year... Barkov is likely staying in Finland, zero chance Lindholm comes over for next season...
May as well have said we're drafting Monahan.

No compliance buyouts? I'm okay with that. There isn't anyone that I would really want to buyout. Wideman's serviceable right now, but that contract will suck soon.

That's great to hear, but it's just setting up for backlash if/when nothing happens. While sometimes Sutter was maddeningly closed mouth at times, it was preferred to Feaster's big talking. If you're going to do something, then do it and talk about it after the fact. If nothing happens, don't talk about how close you were to having something done.

I would rather not waste more assets to move into the top 5. Just pick whoever is there at 6 and move on. If Feaster is to be taken at his word on Jankowski we shouldn't need anyone better than Monahan for the #2 position, right?
Really sucks that those wins against Anaheim and Detroit will probably end up costing us assets to move up. I wonder if those who were "disgusted" by people hoping for losses will still feel that way when they watch Feaster trade away what few valuable parts we have left to move back up.
Personally I'm just going to wait and see. Maybe some team above us will be really high on Monahan/Lindholm and could be tempted to move down at the price of a guy like Butler or Nemisz.

Why would the Flames buy anyone out? Without Iginla, Kipruosff, and Bouwmeester the Flames might have troubles getting to the salary floor especially if Cammalleri is moved as well.

And here is the post draft tweet:
"We had come close many times but couldn't get the right pieces in the right places to make the deal."
Same old, same old.

If Jankowski has any effect on their drafting at all, they're high. I presume he has no bearing on decisions.

Kind of leaves Barkov, Russian, or Monahan.
