If the Oilers somehow managed to get into yet another top three draft pick. I am going to burn something in edmonton. Maybe a paper bag full of dog poo on MacT's front porch.

If the Oilers called a press conference to announce they are buying out a player who can't officially be bought out until after the SCF...

I could understand a presser for a coaching change but they are going to do a presser for a trade at this time of year?

Should they really be buying out contracts while asking for taxpayer money to build a new arena?

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 1m I believe the Oilers will announce Ralph Krueger is out as head coach, but they may not announce his replacement for a few days.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 4s
The Oilers are keen on Dallas Eakins. Wouldn't be surprised if he's named this week. Eakins was also in running for Stars and Canucks.

It would be funny if they fired Krueger with the plan to hire Eakins only to have Eakins go to Vancouver.

Krueger is going to have to learn the hard way that the Edmonton Oilers are a results-oriented franchise. He thinks delivering a 7th round pick is good enough? They were in a playoff spot for a while there! Thats frightening!

First overall, or top 3 are the only acceptable results! Dammit Kreuger, what did you think you were doing?

Ryan Rishaug ‏@TSNRyanRishaug 56s My Sources strongly suggest Dallas Eakins will be Oilers new head coach, an announcement likely in the next few days. Krueger to be let go.

Awesome. Love Eakins as the new head coach. A lot of different teams were after him as well.

So another year of players trying to adjust to a new system. Guessing they miss the playoffs one more time before getting back to the promised land.

What's so good about Eakins other than he was the flavor of the month as far as potential coaches go?

I think the improvement of Kadri, a number of defensemen also developed pretty well under his coaching. The Marlies have had a decent record under him as well.

Certainly far from a sure thing as an NHL coach but does seem to have the background to suggest he should be a good coach and especially in working with young guys.

People complain about Calgary changing coaches too much. We still can't compare with the experts up north.

Can't wait for them to fire Krueger and then watch Eakins sign in Vancouver on Monday
