I know Bautista is the "franchise guy" but having him hit like .080 in the 2 hole does hurt right now. Maybe it's time to shuffle him down in the order to take some of the pressure off. He obviously showed his frustrations yesterday.

Yeah, I don't think he's a particulary great #2 hitter myself. Problem is that with Reyes out and Lawrie for that matter, it's created a massive hole in the teams lineup. Add in that guys like Bonafacio and Izturis have hit for nothing it's made the batting lineup a real issue. They're essentially forced to put out 3 wiffle ball hitters in Kawasaki, Izturis, Bonafacio every day. Than add in that Rasmus and JPA are terribly inconsistant for making contact. I almost wonder if you couldn't look at moving Lind up to that #2 spot, as he's been hitting lights out of late, and drop Bautista back intot the 4 hole.

Why can't Kawasaki lead off?

His average and on base percentage is really low... he a typical #9 type of a hitter.

Other than Reyes who is hurt, I don't believe the Jays have a lead off hitter....

Remember when the Jays were last a Championship calibre team? How many "lead off" capable hitters did we have that year? White, Alomar, Henderson and maybe even arguably Fernandez....those were the days.
