There are no "concerns" that I'm aware of. He dislocated his shoulder. Every player suffers injuries and his recovery is going as expected (skating in june).
As far as skating goes, there's a good amount of variation between views that one sees. I think it was a Tampa scout on nhl.com that actually said he was a great skater. He's not, but those who say that it's a serious issue are just quoting old reports rather than assessing his current situation. Much of internet "scouting" is in fact third-hand reporting. Craig Button gave his skating 4/5 in November. What Barkov - like many others - needs for the NHL is short-distance explosiveness. He'll get around the ice no worse than someone like Joe Thornton does.
If he "drops", it'll be because teams judge that others have more offensive upside.
But he won't. If I had to guess, Nichushkin is the one that people tend to have too high on their lists.
