The only reason you wouldn't want to know as much as possible about a potential future player for your organization is if you're sure you don't want him. If they have any interest in him what-so-ever, there is no good reason to not invite him IMO.

That's not to say they haven't and the info hasn't been released yet.

.
So that's why the Flames didn't invite Seth Jones. They are sure they don't want him.

Not every team has the same scale of combine, as well, eastern teams have an advantage for being able to have the most players attend in a short period of time.

I don't think the flames need to bother with inviting a Jones, Drouin or McKinnon. More than likely they have no chance of getting them and if they do trade up i doubt they need any more info on those 3 guys.

Flames are doing it right. Looks like they are bringing in 3 players that could be around at 6 in Barkov( longshot), Monahan, and i have to guess Lindholm will get his invite today.

The real interesting part will be who the other 7-8 players they invite.

There's no question the Flames will talk to Lindholm as much as possible. No need to speculate based on very incomplete information.

Sounds like no Lindholm in Calgary. Before anyone gets too riled up, it seems a lot of the Swedish players are attending only 1 or 2 camps probably due to scheduling issues and travel time.
Mark Masters ‏@markhmasters 18m Elias Lindholm will be at Buffalo's combine before heading home; had interviews with 23 teams this week

Hagg:
Mark Masters ‏@markhmasters 4m Robert Hagg is heading to Buffalo, NJ combines before heading home

I was just pointing out that there are other reasons why players don't get invites. If they feel they have incomplete or inconsistent information on some players, they are more likely to invite those players over players they feel they have the book on. Not every team invites a tonne of prospects, and in particular, western teams usually have to be a little more selective.

Or maybe they don't like Lindholm... who knows? I just don't think that should necessarily be the default mindset.

a friend of mine who is a server at Earls tin palace said that a large man resembling Feaster and a young guy named Craig (name on the reservation) had dinner with an 18 year old kid, light hair. Jay had Steak Frites and a Earls bigger better half pound burger as a side, craig had a salad and a bellini, the kid had water and Mediterranean linguini.

if that helps narrow it down

Sure is a whole lot of panic going on about the Flames not meeting Lindholm.

Hate to see the hate if the Flames decide to pass on him at 6. Whoever gets picked instead will become the new whipping boy to some.

Every single player on the "not attending Flames combine" list have the guys only visiting places right around Toronto. The players probably don't all have unlimited time to attend all of these, and being out in the west is probably the main reason most or all of them aren't attending. None of the same list are attending Edmonton either and they pick right after us. The private team combines can be great to get some bonus time with prospects, but a player not attending doesn't automatically mean there isn't interest from either side.

Guys, Lindholm plays in the league that Loob's team is in, and Loob has a relationship with the Flames. I'm sure the Flames know what they want to know about him.

Loob should come over and be our President.

In the NFL team will get players in for a workout and meeting they have no plans on drafting, to try to mess up other teams. The flames could have had a meeting with other players in TO. I read nothing into who is going to the flames combine.

With the small NHL club of Coaches, GMs and scouts there are little chances of some unique drill that the Oilers thought of and the Flames didn't think of.

Seems that it would make more sense having the combine have the players for 2 or 3 sessions that run through drills that are submitted by the individual teams.

Alternatively why wouldn't the Flames just rent some ice at a Toronto arena and hold the sessions there?

It is not like these prospects are free agents that have to be impressed with the City or the organization. They go to the teams that draft them and have very little option ..... unless you are Erixon.
