Jungle Jim Hunter is the worst two hours of radio anywhere in the world. It's nice that he covers non mainstream sports and local athletes but the man has no personality what so ever and he has a terrible voice.

It's nice to hear about hockey outside of the regular Calgary guys but listening to Kypreos and MacLean daily is maddening. I am stunned MacLean was an NHL GM as he makes Eric Francis seem like an NHL encyclopedia and Kypreos is clearly operating on 1/3 brain capacity. Honestly their opinions at times are so terrible that I feel like I'm listening to some amateur fan podcast. The more I hear these guys the bigger appreciation I gain for TSN.

Farell's great as he actually follows hockey. I occasionally listened to him on Sirius Howard Stern 101 where he did so well that CBS plucked him. He's rough around the edges but his interviews are a nice change from the the typical overly polished network stuff.

the fan has bigger issues than rome or hockey central. the morning show is terrible. rhett is awesome. all they do is try to rip off richards humour. there is just one problem though. THEY ARE NOT FUNNY. Walker has the sense of humour of a news anchor who thinks they are funny.

i am assuming the person giving props to jim must be jungle jim him self. worst thing on the radio ever. i would like the fan to add walker to the show cause no one listens and that is where he should be.

Not enough hockey on Rome to be interesting to me. Sounds like I'm not the only one.
Friedman's and Duhatschek's segments on the Fan960 are easily the best. Really like Loubardias' contributions as well.
If any Fan960 guys are reading this thread lets get some more draft talk going. Might as well try and get our scouts, other team scouts, guys who follow junior (Loubardias), etc.

The FAN needs more Mike Rogers. I'm always impressed about how willing he is to speak the truth (or at least his version of it) about the Flames, even if it's harsh. I think he is severely underused on this radio station outside of Flames games.
I've noticed a lot of times the other guys ask him softball questions meant to evoke a soft-ball answer and he never takes the bait. He has great insight, and doesn't seem to care that much about what the organization thinks. As much as I like Pat, he sometimes comes across as the Flames media rep.

Yeah, I would love to see them do more draft talk, and not just about the Top 3 guys. Even if it's not about the NHL, it's relevant to an NHL audience at this point of the season, so we all want to know more. Can't get enough draft!

Rome with a decent interview with Crosby today. Even the dinks on hockey central can't get hockey interviews that good!

I think Rogers has a couple other gigs that may be better paying. Perhaps he treats Flames analysis as more of a hobby? I agree though, I appreciate his insight.

I can definitely see that Moon, but when I say stuff like, Friends was a terrible show, or Nickleback sucks, and someone says to me, 'that's just your opinion bro, those things are great because so many people like them. How could they not be awesome?' I continue to think that those things are terrible, and in turn think less of the person I'm talking with. All good though, what are the gang talking about on HC right now? Whether or not to extend Kessel and for how much, part VI?

I love Jim Rome as its nice to hear MLB, NBA or NFL talk. I can listen to him online though. At least with Hockey Central we dont have to endure talk about the other sports which I have little or no interest in, being CFL or the other local sports in the city. As I have zero interest in any of them. Better to have Rome or Hockey talk vs the other possible alternatives to fill air time.

I'm very happy with less Rome, and greatly appreciate it.
I'm not in a position to listen to lunch hour so I can't fairly comment on it. That said, I'd rather have them repeat the morning show from 10-12 than have Rome. There isn't any other programming to pick up during this time? Material from GTA or something? I don't mind NBA/MLB talk, but at least focus on Canadian teams.
I listen to the morning show everyday and I love Rhett. He is very honest and it's fun listening to him learn the ropes of being in sports radio. I also love when the morning guys get in trouble in other media outlets, but I can't expect that all the time.
I most look forward Friedman's segment, and enjoy Duhatschek's/Als East/West segment - however I feel those two would better serve listeners being on the radio separately. They don't really argue or debate... it's just like doing two interviews at once and only getting half the thoughts from each person.
And for the record, I would love to have Loubardias on the FAN960 full time. I don't care when, but I appreciate his knowledge.
Obviously Pat Steins is doing a great job, and I'm growing on his partner too. Very objective and unbiased analysis from those two.
I think all the hate for too much hockey talk will die down when CFL/NFL start up again.
Great job FAN960!
P.S. - I'll also voice my interest for more soccer talk... maybe have a guest on once a week talking EPL and other Canadian soccer news? Surely they have 10 minutes a week for that.

I think I'd rather have Rome than Toronto-centric hockey talk myself, but the switch is rather easy to explain. There will always be more hockey fans listening, and Fan960's cost for Hockey Central approaches 0 since it is produced by another Sportsnet affiliate. Rome's show likely isn't cheap, relatively speaking.

Jiri, you have mentioned this before. I would tend to agree that Rome is not as strong as it once was, but still better than most things. What was Whitey's role on the show? Did he help to drive content and manage the show somehow? I guess when you listen to a guy for years even though he is constantly referencing the people he works with, you still get a sense that it is mostly a one man show, which obviously it isn't. Or at least I do.

Nope. They were talking about the strange leadership structure in Colorado, if COL would trade the pick, if Jones to COL is a slam dunk, how valuable the 2nd pick would be if MacKinnon is still there, how good Huberdeau and MacKinnon would be. They then moved on to talking about the long back diving deals and whether the Rags will have to buyout Richards, whether the Nucks will have to buyout Luongo, whether the Hawks will have to buyout Hossa.
So basically much more interesting to a hardcore hockey fan than random Rome rants, terrible emails, etc. And zero Leafs talk so far from what I've heard.

At this point I'd prefer Marek v Wyshynski to either HC or Rome if given the choice.

Personally I hate Rome....
I bet the programming director for Fan960 has done research and has a good idea on what will obtain the best ratings....

Sorry, what is this. I really like Marek. Is he not still working Sportsnet?
