Anders Erikkson takes that honor, and it's not even close.

Too be honest, imo, butler is playing because if the regehr trade. Feasted probably knew he got screwed over so he's Playing butler like he's a Top 4 dman.

The owners paid that guy 5M over the last two seasons and he doesn't even really know where the defensive zone is or the neutral zone or the offensive zone for that matter. He just has a big shot and is tall.
Great work Feaster.

Yup, Eriksson takes it for me too. Babchuk at least had one redeeming quality, his shot. Eriksson was just terrible at everything.
Butler is getting up there, though.

"Anton Babchuk is a sound positional player on the back line and perhaps one of our most adept defenseman at pinching down the wall to keep the play alive in the offensive zone," said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. "Anton makes a good first pass, his shot is a big weapon for us on the power play, and he contributes to our offense without sacrificing his defensive responsibilities."

Over the weekend, Jay Feaster said he thinks Babchuk can score 50 points next season. #Flames
What a terrible re-signing. What were they thinking!

Iginla, Bouwmeester, Comeau, Cervenka, and Babchuk all gone from the last years opening roster.
I am sure there are more on the way.

I still remember this game where we had seats behind the Flames bench against the Hawks and Reichel was in the doghouse (can't remember the coach at the time) and placed on a line with Lakovic. Reichel set him up with a perfect pass and Sasha missed the open net and Reichel slammed his stick in disgust. You could tell Reichel was disgusted to be playing with him. I saw Lakovic pleading with him multiple times trying to talk to him and Reichel looked the other way and wouldn't even acknowledge he was there. It was actually more entertaining than the game as the Flames got bombed by Amonte and the Hawks.

I will never forget the away game vs the Oilers where one of their fans poured a beer on Guy LaPointe, our assistant coach at the time. Lakovic then launches himself almost entirely into the crowd to fight the guy. It was only because some of his teammates grabbed his feet that he didn't end up entirely over the glass and in the Oilers crowd alone.
He may have been bad but he'll never be worst all time for me simply because of that!
EDIT: multiple posters reminiscing about the good old Sasha days. I like where this thread is going

Still disagree.
Darryl Shannon
Bobby Dollas
Jamie Huscroft
Kevin Dahl
Andrei Zyuzin
Anders Eriksson
Cale Hulse
David Hale
Joel Bouchard
Eric Charron
Brad Werenka
Petr Buzek
Glen Featherstone
Dallas Eakins
Those guys were all as bad or worse than Babchuk IMO. I certainly wouldn't be singling out Babchuk ahead of most of those guys.
Our defense during the "Young Guns" era was absolutely atrocious. I'd say in general defense has improved significantly overall in the NHL since then and guys that were making our roster as #5-7 guys back in the mid-late 90's wouldn't get a sniff of the NHL these days.
Babchuk wasn't as bad as some people seem to think he was. But this year our defense stayed relatively healthy and thus he couldn't crack the lineup.

Yeah, "terrible" is a pretty extreme evaluation of Babchuk. He's far from good, but not exactly terrible either. It's too bad, because with his shot, if he were better at the other aspects of his game, he could have been utilized in a Sami Salo-ish fashion by teams.

Am I the only one that liked Babchuk?
First year with us:
8 goals, 19 assists +18 in 65 games
The next year Sutter misused him and he still put up 10 points and plus 2 in 32 games
And then last year, a whopping 7 games after a shoulder injury, misused by Hartley, only a minus 1
