14 thousand per day, so 28 thousand for the weekend, if they look at it that way. They may just count 14000 two day passes as the attendance.

Either way, highest attendance yet for Xfest, so they'll hopefully keep going with it. I bet you they'll keep trying, but the thing with these festivals is even a successful "looking" festival to the casual observer can still be close to ending, based on a number of factors.

Even Virgin festival had 20k the first day with Pearl Jam headlining and then 14k the next day with Billy Talent, for 34000 total fans and then bam, they announced that was it for Vfest.

I didn't go, but I hope this was considered a success. This city needs more music festivals!

I think there was at least one every weekend this summer.

I think what he meant to say is this city needs more major music festivals. The kind with bands people have heard of and thousands of sun soaked fans.

It would be cool if V-fest came back. Maybe have V-fest as a summer kick-off in early July, then X-fest as the end of summer blowout.

Edgefest was really cool back in the day, too, but I was just a little too young. One year they had Greenday and FooFighters, along with a hole bunch of other awesome bands.

Looking at youtube videos of it, you don't see crowds like that anymore. Like 50 people deep x 500 across jumping up and down for significant portions of songs. It doesn't even look like Canada. Just awesome!

Check out the 48 second mark and 4:28 mark. Nothing like some of those festivals in Europe where 50000 people jump at the same time, but for Canada where most people just stand motionless, those were some pretty great crowds back then.

edit: Also gotta love the rythmn guitarist playing with a Molson Canadian bottle at 3:30.
