He hit a flyball with Lind on third in the 9th with 0 out. It was debatable whether it was deep enough, with a good throwing RF.
Rivera held Lind. All the way back to the dugout, Lawrie stared down at third at Rivera and Lind, and said "what are you doing?". The when back in the dugout Gibbons tells him basically to be quiet and that his complaining was BS, and Lawrie beaks at him and Gibbons, and Bautista steps in.
Considering they were down by 2 at the time, with a runner at 1st as well, no need for that risk.

Lawrie needs to relax. He's really annoying me now. If he learned how to reign in his emotions better he could be a huge asset to the team, but he's just too much at times. Hopefully he learns from today.

I agree and yet disagree at the same time. Lawrie is over the top and could end up being disruptive. Lawrie is over the top and this is a team that often appears way too disinterested.
Lawrie hates losing and thats really obvious and I think in the end it's a good thing. Got a lot of happy go lucky players on the Jays and his attitude is needed for the mix.

I think the whole Lawrie thing is completely overblown. It is nothing more than a guy scuffling at the plate, and him feeling he had an opportunity to be a productive out that was missed. Nothing more.

Anyone with half a brain knows you do not take a risk to score that run from 3rd unless it is 100% certain it scores. Down by 2 runs with a runner on 1st and 3rd, that run at 3rd means little to nothing. The guy on first needs to score and if he's going to, the guy on 3rd will naturally score ahead of him.
So Lawrie screaming and throwing a fit about Lind not scoring not only shows his immaturity, it shows a surprising lack of knowledge about baseball. All he cared about was the RBI next to his name. I don't think it has anything to do with his desire to win as some have mentioned, as that run really had nothing to do with tieing the game.

Yup not only the RBI but the non-AB to help his average.
His antics at the plate are ridiculous. He swings wildly at bad pitches and then takes borderline pitches and gets mad at the ump.
He still doesn't understand why he was ejected Friday night when it was clear you can't be throwing stuff around at home plate. Especially after last year when his thrown helmet actually hit an umpire.

I don't get the "Brett Lawrie cares more about RBI and his batting average", then actually being part of something to help the club win. This is the same guy that went over the camera well in NY last year in a meaningless game, only to injure himself to make a play. I get he plays with fire and on an edge all the time - but the guy appears to want to win more than worry about personal achievements. You watch the .GIF on DJF, and who is one of the first people to greet Kawasaki on the field? Ya, Brett Lawrie.
Call him many things - but I don't think selfish is one of them. Like I said earlier, I think it is just a guy who is battling, and is struggling to be part of the solution rather than the problem. It comes out in many forms, but I think he has a desire to win ball games that is higher than anyone else on this club.
He may have been caught up in the moment, and he actually does seem like a good teammate most of the time. But his head wasn't in the game if he thought that scoring Lind was a necessary play. I don't think he's selfish but at the time he sure wasn't being a good teammate. He may not have been concerned about the RBI, but I dot really get what his problem was. Did he forget the score?

Except he is losing his cool all of the time. His twitter feed is a train wreck.
Half of his tweets could be made into 'Scumbag Steve' memes. I get that he's passionate, but considering that baseball really and truly is 90% mental, I question his ability to wise up and grow into a quality ball player.
I'm not denying that Lawrie isn't a model citizen - all I am saying is that the guy's desire to win ball games is more than personal acomplishment. He has his warts, I'll give you that - but when his talent catches up to where his mind thinks he should be, I think he's going to be one heck of a player.
I think its a combination of everything. Struggling at the plate, wanting to the team to win, immaturity, his temper tec.
He has been better this season. Even when he got tossed last week, he was pretty calm for a while. Sure his temper came out as he was actually leaving, but was very calm right after when he was talking to the 3B umpire.
He is 23, so he should learn how to relax and hopefully become the hitter he should be.

Who are these "happy go lucky" players? Just because someone doesn't act like an idiot and throw tantrums on the field doesn't mean they care less than Lawrie.
I can't understand how it's possible to rip on other guys for not caring enough, but defend the guy with a .628 OPS because he allegedly cares more. If others don't care as much, why are they vastly outproducing him at the plate?
