Full cages, softer shoulder pads, kevlar socks, no touch icing.

Fix it, fix it now

I enjoy hockey. Sometimes though, hockey and it's culture are barbaric. I know some fans get off on that, but come on, these are peoples lives.

Wear a visor.

Agree with everything except full cages. Just make visors mandatory (or at the very least grandfather it in).

Losing teeth isnt a huge deal, part of the game (hockey teeth!), but gotta protect the eyes. If you look at the main injuries it is because they aren't wearing a visor (Staal, Fraser etc.) Yeah I understand Crosby broke his jaw but teeth can be fixed, if you lose an eye, your screwed forever.

Losing teeth may not be a big deal, but it can prevent that very thing, along with other injuries such as to the jaw and cheek, which could affect other things. Plus after the players careers are over, I'm sure they would appreciate having as much real teeth and a normal face structure as possible.

Is it worth it to have meaningless battle scars just because it looks cool?

Shoulder pads are already mandated to be soft. Few years back.

Kevlar socks - $$$ but i like it.

No tough icing. I'm on the fence.

Kevlar socks are only $20 more than regular Bauer socks, not much of an expense for a league like the NHL.

Right, and as their life they have the ability to make their own decisions. I'm not against visors, but it's up to the players to bring them into the NHL, wither individually or through mandate.

Why up to the players? Any other job the workers don't get to decide what safety equipment they need, they are told what they have to wear.

That's not true at all. If auto workers didn't want to wear a certain piece of safety equipment you can be damn sure their union would hold that position.
