If only the Flames can play like this in an 82 game season with an all-rookie team. This team doesn't know when to win.

Man, I just can't understand how some can actively cheer for losses and are upset with tonights win. I fully understand wanting a higher draft pick, but some of you are so hell bent on following the Oilers recent blueprint of a rebuild. An Oiler team that is as of now BELOW us in the standings. They have tonnes of skilled players, but they have all be raised in a franchise groomed to believe that failure is acceptable, and people wonder why they continue to be a joke. I absolutely loved the heart and effort displayed tonight, especially by our young guys. It's nice to see players who have some pride and compete hard. Give me those guys every night. No doubt we'll se some rookie mistakes but these games recently have been the funniest I've watched in years. Anyone who thinks this team should just coast until the end and not let failure bother them deserve to jump on the Oiler bandwagon. Pathetic.

Stuff to think about:
- If we're not bad enough for a top pick, should we consider the "quick rebuild" strategy and go bite on some UFAs this summer?
- How come the Heat missed the AHL playoffs, but are on a win streak in the NHL?

Couldn't really follow this one given I'm still in Korea and the time didn't line up but nice to see a win and to see the young players really trying.

NO to the bolded part. Even though they are winning now they will be in tough next season. We won't get a top 5 pick this year but we will next year.

We're getting fooled again here. This is no different than the usual frantic push at the end where it seems "hey, we aren't that bad, one or two more pieces and we'll be in for sure." Only to have a rinse and repeat year after year. This team basically as is is brutal and needs to lose games now. We are not going to be a winning club next year.

Well I've already convinced myself that Nichushkin will be the best player available in this draft, so I'm fine with picking 5-7. Good game guys.

Mark Cundari and TJ Brodie lead the Flames in Icetime in this one with 24 mins and 27 mins respectively.
Cundari, 24:54 TOI, 1G(PP),1A, +1 and 2 shots. Hmmm... Not a bad first game in the NHL..

I think its dependant on what's available. The strategy when the rookies started coming up was to probably bolster the lineup with free agents. With the success of the young guys and if they look serviceable next year they might not go whole hog into the free agency route.

Key injuries, Bart going back and forth to the NHL, remember during the lockout the heat were one of the top teams in the AHL. A completely different system, Ward might be a good coach in terms of developing a professional attitude and selling players on a system. But the system that the Heat used sucked all of the offensive creativity out of the game.

I doubt this team is the real deal either, but if they were, then I think you'd have to look at adding guys like Horton with our cap space.

It does make me sad to see MacKinnon and Drouin dominate in Halifax tonight, though.
I really hope we can get Lindholm.

Cundari isn't shy, is he? He gets his first opportunity tonight and has absolutely run away with it. Props to Feaster for snagging him in the Bouwmeester deal.
