Not meaning to insult here, but when watching the game are you actually rooting against the team? I fully understand wanting a top 3 draft pick, but personally when I watch the game I just can't bring myself to say "oh good Minnesota scored" or "dammit we scored again". Just wondering if you can actually bring yourself to cheer against the team while watching? It just feels too Oiler-esque personally. That said, I'll always cheer for a win, but won't be upset with a loss as the situation currently stands.

While I expect and hope for a couple more wins this year, I just can't see them taking this one. Flames play well but are smothered by the wild in a barn burner 2-1 game.

Way to reward McGratton for his game winner against the Ducks..
This game is way too important to have a sniper like McGrattan in the line-up. Can't have him burying those chances like in Friday's game.

I'm guessing Jackman with the game winner tonight, then they will reward him by benching him the rest of the Season.

First Begin, then Grats, now Jack.

I really don't think they are going to win this one. It will be good experience for the young guys though. I wish I would watch the game because I want to see how Baertschi-Backlund-Cammalleri and Reinhart-Horak-Hudler do as well as Cundari.

I'd like the Wild to finish ahead of the Blues as well.

We're saving our worst lineup for the Preds hopefully. Like to see Irving and Bancks in that game.

Rewarding Hanowski by playing him in his home state is nice.

I just watch with no emotional investment into winning. When opposing team scores, I don't care; and when Flames score, I do cheer. But in the end the loss has much more gain than the win. So all I want is for Flames young players to put forth a good effort in a defeat.

Ages of tonight's lineup (assuming Kipper is the backup):
  • Miikka Kiprusoff - 36
  • Cory Sarich - 34
  • Joey MacDonald - 33
  • Tim Jackman - 31
  • Mike Cammalleri - 30
  • Lee Stempniak - 30
  • Mark Giordano - 29
  • Matt Stajan - 29
  • Jiri Hudler - 29
  • Brett Carson - 27
  • Chris Butler - 26
  • Ben Street - 26
  • Mikael Backlund - 24
  • Paul Byron - 23
  • Mark Cundari - 22
  • TJ Brodie - 22
  • Ben Hanowski - 22
  • Roman Horak - 21
  • Max Reinhart - 21
  • Sven Baertschi - 20

Only 3 players in the lineup who were born before the Flames moved to Calgary. 6 players in the lineup who weren't born yet when the Flames won the Cup.

Only 3 players were full-time NHL players when the Flames made the run in 2004 (Kipper, Sarich, and Stajan).

I'm the same. I cheer for the Flames to look great for 2.5 periods and then hope for a late third period collapse. Preferably due to PP goals against or shaky goaltending.

I know most of you nubs would like to see the Flames bomb the last 4 games and hopefully get a top 3 to 5 pick, but wouldn't it be pretty awesome if the Flames managed win all their remaining games with these young guys and break even at 22-22-4.

It would definitely set the tone for the next couple of years. Through i have a feeling they go 2-2.

How would finishing 22-22-4 set the tone for the next couple of years?

It just goes to show you that Calgary will be a tough and skilled team to play against if these young kids managed to win their last 4 games. This team will no longer be the joke of the league, that's what i meant by setting the tone. They will also have the confidence going into next year with a winning attitude unlike the circus up north.

I dont see how that would help.

I think a high draft pick in a deep draft over a circus season is a better endgame.
