I don't know, on pace for 11 goals and 41 points if this were a full season. Seems to be exactly what we brought him here to do.

"In honor of Kiprusoff's last game, the Flames are pleased to provide a roster worse than the Nov 20 2003 one he had in front of him in his debut."
So, 2-1 win just like that night?

The Anton is our best bet for a higher pick.

If you consider 41 pts for a D-man average, then sure. Right now he's top 20 in D-man points, 3 points from being top 10. Maybe you and I have different definitions of average.

honestly, I don't know how it works exactly. But IIRC the Flames have only used 3 of the 4 free call-ups ... so given that the Heat season ends tomorrow, they could just make Cundari the 4th one anyway. After tomorrow, they are free to recall whoever they want.

I predict Cundari will destroy someone tonight.
This guy has a killer instinct and chip on his shoulder. I can't wait to see this.

Phaneuf puts up those kinds of numbers and this board is all over him. Wideman puts them up and it is a "great season"? Interesting ideas here.

I presume the board is all over Dion so they can justify the crap return they got for him. Dion is top 5 in scoring for a D. Not his fault that Toronto keeps putting him on the top pairing.
Wideman also had a good year for what he brings. He was brought in to get points and help the PP. He has done that, but posters want every one of our D-men to be "all world".

That is not what I said. You said he was brought in and did what he expected. At $5.25M per season if all he did is what we expected is that a great season or an average one?
I agree you and I have a different definition of average in this case. Wideman earned his cap hit which is great but he certainly didn't exceed my expectations for a $5.25M per season Dman so I don't think he had a really great season

Wideman is a 2nd pairing d-man, and yes other 2nd pairing d-men make horrible plays.

This is a silly argument. At a salary cap of $5.25M, and with expectations of putting up 40+ points as a D-man, simply accomplishing that goal is having a great season, because it was expected that the season be great in the first place.
By your logic, Sidney Crosby can never have a "great" season, just average ones because he is paid and expected to be the best player in the league each year. Unless Sid demolishes the records book every year, we are going to say he had an average season?

I see what you are saying but I think if Crosby scored 82pts in a season it wouldn't be considered great for him but for basically 99% of the league that is a fantastic season. He needs to be at the top of the league to have a great season by his standards and his expectations. It is not a silly arguement at all in my opinion.
So if a player lives up to his contract that is a great season? Sorry I don't agree. I guess if Wideman is in the top 20 for D scoring that is good considering he is 22 among Dmen in cap hits but his defensive play takes away from that so again he is living up to expecatations and had a average-good season by his standards. Not a great season.

So you're saying being top 20 in scoring among D-men is an average season in your mind?
So you also expected him to lead the Flames with 90 blocked shots or does that surprise you a little bit?
