So long as he doesnt pull a Sudin and come back after retiring and play in Vancouver - then I am fine with it.

Just look at the logjam of redundant signings they made last year on the wing. Stempniak, Comeau, Hudler, all guys who are pretty similar to what was already here and were signed to create "competition" for the young prospects.
If Kipper stays another year, they'll have Berra and Ramo battle it out with him for the two jobs. If Kipper retires, they will re-sign Macdonald and have a 3 way battle between him, Berra, and Ramo.
Whether Macdonald comes back will depend entirely on Kipper's decision.
|
While I do agree that was their approach going into this season and the seasons prior. I do believe that the direction has changed and the next two years are going to be all about getting these unknowns a proper look in the NHL. If Kipper stays that is cool. Ramo and Berra will have some work to do during camp to secure the number two spot. But if he does retire I do not see management re-signing McDonald. they will have Four goalies ready for positions on the Flames and Heat respectively and Ortio and Broissoit will be mainlining the Farm.

That is an impressive statistic for a goalie.

Thanks for everything Kipper, but I really do hope this is his last home stand as a Flame.
After trading Iggy, and then moving on from Bouwmeester as well, t's time to turn the page completely IMO.

I agree. Since the Kipper 'sheen' has never rubbed off on any of the previous backups, there's no reason to think that having him around as a veteran presence would be of much help. Yes, turn the page.

I hope this is his last game and I don't care how he plays, I just hope they do something special for him and at the end of the game he gets a curtain call.
Not only our best, but one of the best finnish goalies and best goalies to play in the NHL. He deserves it.
I just hope this doesn't get drawn out. It would be good if he officially retired after the game or even after the season ended but I don't want to go through the summer with the question of if Kipper will come back or not.

I'm glad he'll be playing Friday -- I sold my tix to tonight's game but I kept the home closer -- will be happy to give Kipper a great sendoff (if that's what it ends up being) and shed a tear for a guy who gave everything and never won the Cup.
Kipper! Kipper! Kipper!
Hope they pull him near the end of the game so the fans can give him his due.

If Kipper retires from the game this summer, his #34 jersey should be retired to the rafters for his contribution and achievements with Calgary Flames.

I thought the Flames don't retire jerseys anymore. They become "Forever a Flame" now.

That's just because those players refuse to have their jersey's retired by the Flames.
Another Ken King debacle and embarrassing point for the franchise.

I wouldn't mind kipper winning his last home game, even if it hurts our draft pick. I would like to see him standing on his head for the Calgary Flames one last time

Kipper played great tonight. I know Hartley said that he was starting on Friday, but would fans be pissed if Hartely made tonights game Kippers last start at home?
I just don't want to see the Ducks come in on Friday and get 4 goals in the 1st against Kipper and have him pulled. I highly doubt the Ducks come in and play like the Wings did tonight.

Kipper was fantastic last night it was great to see the fans stand for the last 20 seconds to pay respect to Kipper.
There were a group of 4 furious Red Wing fans behind us last night while the fans were standing for Kipper clapping and and cheering they were yelling whats wrong with you people sit down your team is in last. Holy crap they were mad Kipper stole 2pts from them lmao

Legendary ‘Kiprusoff Kid’ says goodbye to his idol
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...6489--nhl.html
Quote:
Now a Grade 11 student at Notre Dame High School, Peters hadn’t worn his full Kipper costume to a Calgary Flames game in four years. But with Kiprusoff expected to retire after this season; and with the Flames having only one home game left before the end of the season, Peters decided it was time to pay tribute to his idol one last time.
|
Holy crap that makes me feel old!
Quote:
“This is a thank you and a goodbye,” says Peters. “It feels good to strap on the pads one more time. I’d say that he and I share something special. I grew up watching Kiprusoff. I’ll never forget — nor should any other Flames fan — what he’s done for this franchise.
“He’s been the heart and soul of this team, so I praise him for that.”
|
Quote:
“The reason I watch hockey is because of Kiprusoff. I loved watching him play, for sure. Yeah, I’m sad . . . but I’m going to be a Flames fan all my life.”

Here's a quick media scrum Mikka had the other night. Kipper really shies away from the camera, doesn't he? He seems genuinely annoyed that the media are making all these assumptions... or just annoyed with the attention it brings.

Thanks MissTeeks forgot about mini kipper. Love how the young kid is better in front of a camera than Kipper.
