This team plays so much more up tempo with out Tanguay and even Iginla. Don't get me wrong, clearly those two are legitimately (or were) among our best offensive guys, but I can't stand what their style (especially Tangs) does to this teams style. I get it, just one game, but they were skating so fast last night against the Oil. Up tempo, north south, that is what this team needs, cause frankly we don't have the skill to play the east west long pass game Tangs likes. That just bottles us up and slows down our attack. So much more effective as a whole without his complicated play on the ice.

I kind of agree in that Iggy and Tangs both like to slow things down as they get the blueline. In fact Iginla with the puck crossing the blueline was maddening as he would pull up with the puck rather than drive to the net. IMO they are simply two players that got too comfortable and wanted to do everything their way. You can just see now that Tangs looks somewhat lost now that he's now expected to tow the company line. Hopefully he comes into camp next season in a good mindset as he doesn't really have a lot of options as he's really not tradeable and I doubt the Flames would buy him out.

That's why the Habs and Rangers were going to bubble-wrap Gomez and Redden until they were given a buyout window this year.

He could be bought out once cleared by doctors, assuming it happens before the buyout window. The risk of a long term injury that would have left those players debilitated throughout the entire off-season is what led to the Habs and Rangers telling those two to stay home.

Actually a good guy and a great sniper, good on shoot outs as well. Number one candidate for a compliance buyout. Contract had him as a flame until 37 years old. BUT with out Jerome he was a dead duck and he knew it and played like it in the 8-2 Oil loss. Now he's done like dinner.

Don't see him getting bought out. The Flames are going to be very close to the cap floor next year. What's the incentive for ownership? The Flames also aren't likely to be a cap team anytime soon. They gain nothing from the compliance buyout bonus this off season.
The Flames will throw him onto waivers next year before buying him out. If no one picks him up, we're likely to see him in a Flames uniform for 2 more years.

If Tanguay does get bought out it would probably be after next season, IIRC the teams have two offseasons for buyouts.
Try to trade him this offseason and throughout next season, then you can buy him out if things aren't working out.

Flames strategy(according to Feaster) is to take some contracts from other teams with cap issues for 2013/14. I'm thinking you will see some shorter term high priced contacts to bridge us over. Unlikely to get any thing at all(other than a 5th) for Tangs in a trade because of his contact. Clearing out Tangs and Cervenka(UFA) will make room for others.

I liked him a lot in most of his years here, even his bad year under Keenan, but this year he has just been so bad. I have never seen a skilled player that is so sloppy at crossing the blueline, and I can't fathom why we still use him on the point for powerplays.
His point totals look alright on paper but they are only because of the ridiculous amount of play time and powerplay time he has been given. I'm glad that he won't be the first guy to take the scoring title from Iggy, a guy like Stempniak deserves it much more

3.5 million for a 60+ point player is over-payment now? I now he has a few years left on his contract, but with Tanguay's playing style, age won't affect him as much as other players.
Saying that I would still like him moved to make room for younger players. Wouldn't surprise me if he already asked to be traded.
