Not much difference between the last place team and 29th place team in term of having a chance at the number one overall pick. I think it's 25% for last place chances at first and 18% for 29th.

7% is enough for me to want 30th place over 29th though.

Too bad we suck during the year they reformed the draft lottery, classic Flames luck.

Odds are pretty good that the Flames are going to get bumped down a slot wherever they end up.

1st place odds of being bumped to 2nd 75%
2nd place odds of being bumped to 3rd 57%
3rd place odds of being bumped to 4th 43%

Of course but I think people are over valuing finishing 30th. 14 teams have a chance at the first overall pick.

I don't know, maybe it's just from my poker playing experience, but I have a bad feeling there is going to be a bad beat on the river because some schmuck (probably Edmonton) hit a 2 outer.

Edit: I guess the silver lining is that the top 3 choices are real solid. Maybe 4, but I'm not sold on Barkov.

This is why you need to stop hoping for the other teams to pass the Oilers. They aren't going to get 8th, so if they fall to 13th or whatever, it bumps of their chances of winning again and drafting ahead of us. In 9th, the odds are just too long to make the move

Blackhawks clinch a playoff spot with a 5-3 win vs. Nashville...Nashville really needed at least 3 points from the back to back to have a hope...they got nada from the 2 games...so their playoff chances are now miniscule for this season.

In other news, Ovechkin's two goal night puts him in a tie with Stamkos for the league lead in goals. Caps are also 8-1-1 in the last 10.

Seeing the caps turn around the dismal season is pretty great, but seeing Ovechkin stick it to Milbury is just icing on the cake.

Ovechkin is red hot. He looks like the Ovechkin of old.

Love seeing Ovechkin back in the game. Really disappointing to see a guy that good, a guy who loved playing the game that much regress the way he did.

In the end, you want the best players to be the best players, that's why we watch the games.

People seem to be overlooking that one of the main benefits of finishing 30th is not just the increased chance of winning the lottery but the fact that you can at worst end up with the 2nd overall pick.

I mean imagine finishing 5th or 6th and getting bumped down to 6th/7th. Ugh.

This year you don't really need to have the #1 pick to get a great prospect. But us being guaranteed a top 3 pick would be amazing.
