With Sven and Rhino in the lineup, I'm really excited to watch the team again. The few games without Iggy have felt so empty but this is making me look forward to the next game again
The key will be to get him adequate playing time with talented line mates. Hartley still appears to be riding his veterans, which is disappointing given where we are in the standings. Earlier this year, Sven and Backlund were the only reasons I was excited for Flames hockey, but for the most part neither has received premium minutes yet.
Really hoping Sven gets 2nd line minutes and some power play time.
Nevermind that I think a historical winning percentage with Baertschi in the lineup and without Iginla, Bouwmeester, and Comeau (lol) in the lineup has yet to be determined.

I assure you, I'm quite calm. With him in the lineup, the Flames have gone 13-9-4 (also counting last year).
Didn't we have a great record with Babchuk and Carson in the line-up as well? They get drawn back in and BAM! two more loses. This team is way worse then it was when Sven was up here. They aren't going to magically get better just because of him.
just wait until they don't re-call anyone after call-up #4, find out about the rule change and then go out and say "we had a different interpretation of rule number xy" ...
Certainly been "more than twice".
This one will go under the radar because it was in a radio interview and he may have already realized that there is no more limit.
That said, the fact remains he is out to lunch on the basic admin rules you need to follow as a GM, and one shudders to think what else behind the scenes has been over looked or "misinterpreted" over his 2.5 years in charge.
And unlike other areas where you can argue involvement from above, this sort of oversight falls at the feet of one man and one man alone.
As for Sven, good for him and let's see how Hartley handles him.Given the way he threw Reinhart out there last night, its not going to be the same restrictions Hartley had on him before sending him down the first time.

We'll agree to disagree. The good thing is we won't have to wait long to find out!
The existing “Four Recall Rule”will continue to be applicable, but only during the period between the Trade Deadline and the end of the Regular Season. Following the conclusion of the NHL Regular Season, a Club may exercise an unlimited number of additional Regular Recalls provided that it may have no more than three (3) Players on its Active Roster who were recalled by way of Regular Recall after the Trade Deadline, unless the fourth Player had been recalled during the Regular Season in which case such Player may remain in the NHL

Yeah, I've seen that Sports Illustrated article referenced a few times but it looks like just poor research on their part. The 4 recall rule is in the MOU and I've heard several GMs in the last few days mention that it's still in effect.

At the end of the day, the goal is to improve long term. As much as losing will help us with the draft, stunting progress amongst the prospects is not a good way to build this team.
I don't think he'll make that much of a difference that we fall out of a good draft pick anyway. If Sven can play so well that it means this team ends up with a few more points, well then it means he's played amazingly, and will be going into the summer and next season with a ton of confidence.
If we can find a way to let these young guys play they need experience especially to be ready for next season. Would be a good time to see who plays well together what they can bring to the team and who actually shows up to play.

Totally agree. Some posters need to start getting their facts straight before posting. If it's an opinion that's another thing, but when you're messing up your facts and blaming someone you should own up to it. Simple as that.
Back on topic, it's exciting having some of the kids up to inject some energy and youth in the lineup. This is a great opportunity for the young guys especially Sven to play against the best competition. With so many teams still pushing to make the playoffs, team will be at their bsst and this should help with the development of the kids.
The recall thing was based on an SI article, which seemed like a good source. Not that I'm disputing renny's info, because it seems sound, but it's not sourced.
Nothing worth getting all snippy and personal about either way.
