I accept your apology for living near that dump.

I came in here expecting to hear about backcountry and remote locations for camping, instead its all about trailers and water hook ups. Camping in and amongst trailers is basically spending the weekend in a mobile home park, it is not camping. Man up and use a tent if you want to call it camping.

^^
This thread has over 20 like minded individuals talking about camping. You come in with a different opinion and feel that the others need to "man it up" because you do not agree with their opinion.

My suggestion is to you is to avoid this thread or avoid posting if you have nothing useful to add to this thread but childish cheap shots. Start a backcountry camping thread and take out your anger on the "evil trailer overlords" there.

Well I've actually done a fair amount of that kind of camping as well (and definitely enjoy it!). Let me guess though, no kids? Mine will be backpacking soon enough, but for the time being we'll enjoy the outdoors as we can.

By the way, its nowhere near a mobile home park. A lot of people use the campground as a sort of home base and do excursions from there while some people stay behind and do other stuff. There's certainly nothing wrong with how different people enjoy the outdoors.

Because a tent makes it camping. I can still go all the places I used to tent, and I will still cook the same way I did when tenting. There are lots of areas to dry camp in a trailer that are backcountry.

The only difference with a trailer is now I don't care what the weather is like, and I don't have to dig a hole to take a dump. So have fun with that.

We booked a week at Redstreak (near Radium) for the end of July.

Also ordered a new tent for the family to stay in.

We've done a few days at a time, but never anything this long - hope we survive intact!

Once again- phone in for reservations. They have a few rules that seem odd like charging per person and per pet; but after looking at some of the older reviews online it looks like this was done to make sure they kept the campground quiet and family friendly. They are also doing a lot of work to spruce up the place, but if you want a good campground less than 30 minutes from Calgary- this fits the bill.
Slava..... sorry to break it to you but I don't think your allowed there anymore......

[Mod edit-removed] You expected a conversation on backcountry in a camping thread?

Start a backcountry thread and we can discuss that. Something that plenty of us have also done. But I sure as fata am not going to go backcountry with my four kids and wife, but I'd still like to get out. Is that good enough for you? [Mod edit-removed]

Or re-name the thread title to '2013 RV / trailer camping thread'

Why can't all types of camping be discussed in here?

No one said he can't talk about it, it just so happens that so far it's been RV talk.

Have you stayed there much? I went for a drive towards the end of last year and it seemed alright; however the sites seemed a little to close to each other for my liking. As I said before I am always looking for places to go that are close to Calgary.

Stayed there once when we were tenting. The river is nice to play in and you can float from a bridge just south of there to the campground itself. From what I remember the river sites are a bit further apart and have some pretty good privacy.

Hey campers!

I'm used to tenting as well. With kids and wife, I have no choice but to get a travel travel.

I'm looking into hybrid trailers that have fold-down canvas beds as they are light enough to be towed with our SUV. My one concern about these hybrids is the potential for leaking canvas to damage the trailer. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with these hybrid style travel trailers?

My boss saidthey had one and there was a lot of condensation in the bed area. Not sure if it was when they first come out but I would assume it would be similar to a tent trailer.

I owned one for a year. Mine did not leak at all and was actually very nice. I assume the hybrids are like any other trailer and that you get what you pay for.
